What the club says: Tapton Golf Course is situated on the outskirts of Chesterfield Derbyshire, it is the only municipal parkland golf course in the area boasting a full 18 hole demanding golf course, a testing 9 hole golf course and an 18 hole chip and putt challenge. Tapton Golf Course is fairly hard walking with steep gradients on a few fairways.

Golfshake Team Review
Played Tapton Park for the first time last night during a rare break in this years July rain. What a cracking course! The work on the greens that previous reviews mentioned has really paid off, very receptive, true running and pretty fast given the conditions - but don't expect any easy putts because they are cunningly contoured. The course itself is a mixture of traditional parkland and heathland type holes, some massive par 3's and short, tricky par 4's. Not easy to plot your way round for the first time so playing with someone with a bit of course knowledge is helpful. Try and score well on the first 3 holes, they lull you into a false sense of security! - Jun 10 2010
Golf Course Reviews for Tapton Park Golf Club
I've not played this course for many years, yesterday's round was a revelation. A good number of short par 4's lull you into a false sense of security, they are subtly tricky. Overall a good challenge, on a course that is in very good condition. The greens are small with quite subtle borrows, true rolling surface but really slow even though we were following a green keeper who was mowing them. Enjoyed our game so much that we've booked to play again next week when I hope to play with a bit more freedom now that I've figured out the lines off the tee.

I am continually delighted by the value and quality of Tapton. Apart from the fact of the course being a challenging course for the best golfer, the cost combined with great food and facilities makes it an easy decision to return weekly

Not played here for over 3 years, ground very soggy underneath, course knowledge is very underestimated especially this course, so many leaves on the greens, some are quite poor, the lads i played with were as helpful as they could be as they play it all the time, I had a few good putts, 1,9,10,11,16 and 17 but a triple bogey at the par 3 8th killed me plus a couple of double bogeys, I did enjoy it though, hilly but good exercise, very expensive on the range, £1.50 for a token which gives you about 20 balls, won't be doing that no more, will play again but probably in a few more years.

Have not played my home club in 26 years since joining the Forces. I went back to have a game with my Dad and Son and did not quite know what to expect. I play off 10 and been privileged to play on some of the best courses in my time in the Army. To say I was pleasantly surprised was an understatement. The clubhouse set up has changed a lot but still very friendly with great service throughout.
The course was immaculate, lush fairways, a good 1st cut of rough and the greens were very receptive to approach shots, but still cut very well and ran true and faster than I originally anticipated. To play the long 5th and the 'Horseshoe' 15th again was something I had waited a long time for and was not disappointed. I will definitely look at joining when I settle back in the area.
Greens still true and fast

Went to Tap ton for the first time in 12 years and found it to be fantastically maintained and lush and green course. The course is very very hilly and you know about it after 18 holes but we'll worth the visit
