As the year progresses, the Stanedge course is shaping up nicely, but you have to keep the ball in play and straight; the long rough is now at shoulder height in some places, and finding a ball is difficult. Fairways are nicely defined as always, and the greens are lush and green with some decent roll out.The clubhouse and food is always kept to the highest standards, with some great home cooking.

My wife and I had a delightful game on Good Friday. We have just moved to the area and the club was recommended to us from a friend and now we understand why. The course itself is fantastic and not your “typical” nine hole layout. It’s a true test of golf. Excellent condition from tee to green with beautiful views. The clubhouse is one of the nicest I have ever been in and my wife hasn’t stopped talking about the decor since. It is absolutely immaculate and the food after our round was delicious. All of the staff were very friendly and it was a pleasure to meet the female professional, who we later found out, owned the club…..which confirmed the beautiful appearance of the clubhouse and bespoke decor. We will definitely be back, 10/10 all round!Reviewer Rating

Just coming through the winter period and getting back onto regular greens, after a week of nice weather, the greens are starting to harden and provide some pacy greens already, meaning they will only get faster for the summer. As always some lovely defined fairways and course detailing, etc.The quality of the food and friendliness of staff make Stanedge a must to come play during 2025 (if you haven't already).

Having played here last July and was so impressed, I returned last weekend and I was not disappointed. For the time of year, this course is incredible. Again, the attention to detail is the best I have scene…..and I play a lot of courses. The bunkers and greens were superb; the best in the county. It was nice to sit out after our round, soaking up some sun. The twice cooked chips were fantastic. We will definitely be back soon.Reviewer Rating

Round played September 2024. A beautiful little course but a great golfing challenge. Don't be fooled by the yardage on the scorecard, as this will be one of the most challenging courses you can play. It was in immaculate condition and the greens were very slick. The fairways were fantastic and even the rough was manicured. There are great views of Derbyshire at the top of the course. It's quite apparent the club is very well loved, the members I spoke to were friendly and the staff in the clubhouse welcoming. The food was great! This could easily be one of my favourite Derbyshire golf courses to play!Reviewer Rating

I had the pleasure of playing here with two of my colleagues earlier this week after not playing here for many years. I couldn’t believe the transformation. The course was absolutely immaculate particularly for the time of the year. The greens were excellent and there has clearly been a lot of hard work that has taken place since my last visit……where there was an honesty box on the wall to pay for green fees. The whole experience from start to finish was superb and Fame, Claire and Jenny provided the best service. Our breakfasts before we played were delicious. There wasn’t a single thing I could fault. I will definitely be back.Reviewer Rating

I tried to write a review last week but it doesn’t seem to be listed. My friend and I have played twice here in the last two weeks. We are fairly new to the game and having lessons. We came across Stanedge online and I have to say it exceeds all expectations in every way. The staff made us feel so welcome. We met the owner Fame, who took the time out to come and talk to us and chat about our golf and experience. We have found at some clubs that we have played it feels like they don’t want us there.A super club, welcoming and the course is just wow! The greens are the best we have played on and the fairways are beautiful. A great find.

Played here earlier in the week after a recommendation from a friend. I’m not a member anywhere and have played lots of courses in Derbys and Notts; but never this one.I fell in love with it when I stepped onto the first tee. Superb condition, great little touches here, there and everywhere. Tees excellent, bunkers were the best I have been in all year for condition, not a single weed or blade of grass out of place and the greens were absolutely superb. Ten out of ten all round.

We had never played Stanedge before but what a joy. I play at Sherwood Forest and the quality of the fairways and greens at Stanedge are in a different league. I was amazed I had never heard of the club before prior to my search through GolfNow. My three friends couldn’t stop talking about it all the way round. I understand a female PGA pro took bought the club only five years ago so huge credit to all involved. We will definitely be back.

Mr
I played this course last week, after not playing for over a year. As soon as I got out of my car and started walking towards the clubhouse, the changes were immediate. The first tee had been re-built and extended with beautiful rope and flowers. The driving range was there on my last visit but it looked immaculate. The steps to the clubhouse had be re done and the patio area looked beautiful with all of the wooden and rattan garden furniture.
I was playing on my own so I had arrived in plenty of time. I had a gorgeous clubhouse sandwich before my round that could have fed two people. The gents facilities were first class, I have never seen toilets and facilities like them at a golf club before.
The course itself was well…..WOW! The fairways were like carriers and the shaking of the both the fairways and the rough was unbelievable and I play a lot of high end course with my work.
The greens were the best I have played on all year.
This place is truly a hidden gem and it shouldn’t be hidden! It’s one of the best golf courses I have played on and the yes the clubhouse is small but what they have to offer in terms of decor, the standard of the food and the staff is 10 out of 10. Everyone should know about Stanedge golf club.

Great Peak district golf club
Stanedge is a superbly well maintained local course in between Chesterfield and Matlock, with exceptional views. The course itself is well maintained with very fast running greens, fantastic definition between fairway and rough, with the first cut rough being challenging and the long rough can card destroying with a lost ball almost guaranteed - a proper challenge in keeping the ball in play and straight.Reviewer Rating

Great little Peak district golf club
As a member, play this course a lot, now in full winter mood. Pretty dry considering the rain over the last few months. Temp greens are what they are, some aren't too bad, 3rd, 6th and 8th with the slopes make its impossible to putt on really. Roll on spring/ summer golf again.Reviewer Rating

What a wonderful transformation
Recently visited Stanedge after a 15 year gap when I tried golf the first time.....wow, it's a different place altogether.Fantastic staff, very friendly.
I am not a very experienced golfer, having not played in years and only just returned to playing.I have been going around different courses with my partner recently, trying them out, and this is definitely one worthy of a revisit. I found some of the holes challenging but in great condition. Wonderful views too. Only gripe, a couple of the greens had track marks across them, nothing major, but they can affect your putting. I am not sure why the Greens keepers do this?
To finish on a positive, I really did enjoy my afternoon, and will be going back to try and improve my score.....well done everyone at Stanedge.

Friendly,Great fun. well conditioned.
Thoroughly enjoyed my round today played in glorious sunshine. 10 hole layout but this is an advantage to anyone wishing to play a few holes. The layout offers many loops all accessible to the centrally located area excellently located clubhouse. Food and beverage is simply exceptional with most home made and locally sourced. Even if have no time to golf I will return for the clubhouse offerings. Love to see many non golfers at the venue taking advantage of the excellent foods. Course is interesting layout with some challenging short holes. Greens excellent firm and true.Reviewer Rating

If you don't want visitors then don't take them
I rang on Monday to enquire about visitors tees for Wednesday about 5ish. All booked in for 5.12. We arrived to be told visitors aren't allowed after 5, the lady was completely unapologetic demanding who had taken our booking. She also said Covid meant we couldn't play which is complete nonsense. She eventually offered us 9 holes for £18 (18 holes is £24). We declined her "generous" offer and left to play Chesterfield golf course for £40. I understand a small 10 hole course must struggle for pace of play and they want to keep it open for members but if that is the case train your staff and don't take it out on the visitor!Reviewer Rating
