What the club says: Hallowes Golf Club, founded in 1892, is a very pleasant hill top parkland course. Gently undulating, it boasts magnificent views over the Yorkshire and Derbyshire countryside. This well manicured course offers quick, true greens and is a fine test of shot making for the accomplished player, whilst remaining both fair and rewarding for golfers of all standards.

Condition of course was very good for the time of year. Greens were very slick, difficult on approach but they ran true and were consistent. Walkable course not too hilly. Great variation in holes, only issue was some crossing over of holes and proximity of tees with greens. Very friendly staff and members, as visitors we felt welcomed.

Great Course
Played here for the first time in the summer of 2024. Course was in great condition and the greens were very slick. It's a very tidy set up and well looked after. There were a lot of golfers playing (due to the weather) and although we had to wait on a few holes, the round ran smoothly. I played as a guest of one of the members so the green fee was discounted. The staff were friendly and welcoming and I felt relaxed. Will definitely return.Reviewer Rating

Great society venue
30 players enjoyed an excellent society event.greens in fabulous fast and true conditions allowing the sloping greens to offer best protection. Private room and food provided was superb. We played off the whites with professional permission and the entire group loved the extra challenge.Reviewer Rating

In need of some major attention
I have played this course many times over the last 30 years and its up and down in terms of quality. The clubhouse, food and layout of the course, absolutely aweseom ... the upkeep of the course itself, terrible. The putting green looked like it hadn't been mown for days, was covered in leaves and general garden materials. The first green was so pock marked it wasn't possible to putt properly, most of the greens were the same until we started towards the back nine. On the fairways, cut grass everywhere which isn't being collected by the mowers leaving clumps everywhere. Piles of cut grass heaped up too close to greens. I know this is a municipal course and it suffers from huge underfunding, but some of the logical aspects should be easy to sort out ... if there are lots of golf societies arriving that morning, allow more staff to be there to help. The lady serving on her own was doing a fantastic job, but she could have sold 12 full english breakfasts and more golf extras if she had anyone to support her. This could be such a great course and has been. We won't be coming back for a long while as it will take that long to get it back in good nick.Reviewer Rating

Great course

Rather disappointed.
Thought we'd got a bargain when paying £23/round through a Golf Now "hot deal", against a usual green fee of £35/round, but what the website didn't tell us was that they were having some quite extensive work done to bunkers, on three holes, resulting in 3 temporary greens which were just 10 foot diameter circles of closely mown fairway with a 6" diameter cup plonked in the middle of them. The only saving grace for me and my bro-in-law was that we both played quite well.It was probably just about worth the £23 all told, but we certainly won't be returning without phoning first to ensure the work has been completed and the holes in question have settled back into themselves once more.

club facilities are all in good condition and serving very nice food and drinks
changing rooms looking a bit dated and run down but clean
well stocked pro shop with friendly staff
course is in very good condition and green playing well to considering all the bad weather we have had
over all a good day and a good course will definitely be going again
