What the club says: Sudbury Golf Club is situated West of London close to the A40. The club began life in 1896 as Acton Golf Club and moved to its present location in 1920. The parkland course measures 6307 yards, with a par of 70 (SSS 70) and has many of the recognisable characteristics that made Harry Colt one of the greatest of all course designers. Colt felt that early holes should not be demanding and that using every club in the bag throughout a round is ideal. He also thought the routing of the course should be determined by the land and that is clear to see at Sudbury. Harry Colt was also responsible for such great courses as Wentworth (East/West), Sunningdale, Moor Park, Stoke Park, St Georges Hill to name a few. You won't be disappointed!

Rating 4In my opinion the course should have been closed the fairways were like mud baths and the greens were roped off about 30-40yards from the greens so if you had a trolley you were walking miles further the tees and greens were in fantastic condition
The bar staff were great and the food was very good. I would only recommend playing here in better ground conditions

Quality inner London course & great value
Course in excellent condition. Fairways hard & fast & plenty of roll. Greens more receptive than others this time of year. Post round food was ideal - Thai if you like that And we do! Hopefully be back soonReviewer Rating

Good course and venue
Quite a hilly course, built on the side of the slopes from the clubhouse down to the canal. View from the clubhouse is therefore quite spectacular. I play this course every year about end of June/early July, and it is always in very good condition. With the tees and greens benefitting from sprinklers, the course was in superb condition. Bunkers were good (and well stocked with decent sand). Some quite tricky greens about, which were quite quick this year as it was almost 30degrees and so the ground was hard.
WHS course rating from the yellow tees is 127, so a good test, especially it it's windy as it can be. Food and drink is decently priced bearing in mind how close the course is to central London, and everyone seemed quite friendly, although the fact that our 'society organiser' is a Past Captain probably helps.
Whilst there are a couple of water fountains around the course (at 5th and 15th tees) - take plenty of drink, as the course being hilly means you use more fluids than usual.
Lovely course - already looking forward to next year.

Food and drink is decently priced bearing in mind how close the course is to central London, and everyone seemed quite friendly, although the fact that our 'society organiser' is a recent Past Captain probably helps. The only downside as far as I can tell is the rather small carpark, although there is an overflow carpark in the centre of the course.

Nice course, worth a visit
Hidden away near Wembly, nice course with some challenging holes. Greens in reasonable condition, some suffering from frost damage. Fairways being disrupted by the geese in places, but overall in reasonable condition. Some bunkers felt short of sand - hitting bottom of bunker. But definitely worth a visit - staff very pleasant and look after visitors.Reviewer Rating

Sudbury GC. A great course in the heart of an urban metropolis
A lovely course within the sprawling Greater London area. Great views around the course of various London landmarks. Some really good holes that offer chances of making a score, but some that can ruin your scorecard. Course in good condition considering there hadn't been any rain for weeks. Teeboxes were OK, some needed work, as they were very uneven in places. Fairways were maintained well, with some of them having severe slopes making shots difficult, with the ball being above or below your feet on quite a few holes and the greens were true in pace, with some subtle breaks and borrows. Decent old style clubhouse with very friendly staff. Good size putting green, a couple of driving nets near the 1st teebox. All in all a good course that's worth a visit if you're in the area.Reviewer Rating

Great course
Played here couple of times now and each time we thoroughly enjoyed it. Tee boxes are well kept, fairways are in good condition and greens are fast and true. Course layout is varied with reachable in 2 par 5s and good length par 3s. Great views of the city from most holes and with canal running side of the course it makes it picturesque also.Reviewer Rating

Very obliging in the pro shop. But slow once the 4 balls were caught. Fairways & greens in excellent condition. Never seen a seagull first push a ball on the green & then pick it up!(Round played: Oct 2021 - Score: 108 Handicap: )

ExCAP Open Day
I have been organising an annual golf day at Sudbury for coming on 30 years, simply because the club always extend a warm welcome, the course is always in excellent condition, and the food always first class - and all at a sensible cost. Excellent setting and facilities - what more could you ask for. I would definitely recommend Sudbury to anyone wanting either just a golf day out or anything more ambitious like organising a tournament!Reviewer Rating

Our group enjoyed an Awayday (afternoon round) at Sudbury GC. Organisation from the club was excellent. A friendly reception from the pro shop and catering/bar staff. Parking was a challenge though tokens are available for on street parking. We enjoyed the variety of holes and the challenge of the classic Harry Colt greens. This is a hilly course and quite a physical challenge for those used to flat parkland golf. Certainly worth the effort. Drinks on the terrace after the round were a real pleasure with great views over the course and NW London.Reviewer Rating

Quite a hilly course, built on the side of the slopes from the clubhouse down to the canal. View from the clubhouse is therefore quite spectacular. I play this course every year about end of June/early July, and it is always in very good condition. It was a very dry Summer in 2019 when I last played it before this Summer, and the course was looking rather brown, as were most courses that year. A fair amount of rain this year, and with the tees and greens benefitting from sprinklers, the course was in superb condition. Bunkers seemed to be good (I managed to avoid them all this year). Some quite tricky greens about.

Great day spent at Sudbury, who kindly hosted our cricket club golf day. Course was in fantastic condition and hospitality was lovely, with hot food offered as required. The bar is spacious and comfortable, whilst the terrace looks over the beautiful 18th green. The club is easily accessible off the A40 and a hidden gem in London. Highly recommend.Reviewer Rating

Hidden gem is an overused phrase in golf...
...but this genuinely is one! Located practically in the shadow of Wembley stadium, this is a real treat around London. The course was in stunning condition, the food was fantastic and great value and the staff were very welcoming. You can't fault this place. I'd just like to work out how to put a decent score together here!Reviewer Rating
