Great day out, only thing was the length of the rough - no first cut - very unforgiving. Something to do with nesting skylarks!

Good course but pretty simple and short. Great option to play in the rain. Bunkers were stoney though and chipped my wedge playing out of one.

Only £12.50 after 1pm, bargain!! I would rate this course as easy. Can afford to spray a bit and greens very large so you shouldn't mass too many.

The course is built onto a large Valley, hence the name. With plenty of undulating fairways and hills to traverse, you had better make sure you bring your comfortable golf shoes.
The soil is unfortunately quite chalky, meaning the greens suffer quite badly during the summer months, they become hard and dry. This means that stopping the ball for the average golfer is almost impossible. You would be well advised to aim for the front of the green and allow the ball to roll up to the target. Once on the putting surface you can really see the effects of having such a hard soil underneath. The balls tend to bobble and skip rather than rolling evenly when putting, which is for any golfer a real frustration. The course however, is a superb option for winter golf. Due to its natural drainage the course is seldom waterlogged or boggy. I rarely play any other course during the winter months for this reason alone.
The rough is cut back during the winter but is allowed to grow during the summer, giving it a decent defence as the balls start to fly further which would normally expose the main weakness of this course, which is its length. At 5629 from the yellow tees it really is a short course by modern standards. Due to the short length of the course, the greens have been well protected by bunkers on most holes. Unfortunately these bunkers are full of stones and the sand is inconsistent at best, something that really penalises this course.
Be warned, unless you are playing during the late afternoon or early evening at the weekend, you will be waiting on almost every tee. This is because of the price (£25 per round) & lack of tee time structure.
Overall, as a practice course it is well worth a visit. I’d recommend it to any novice golfer. However the lower handicapped golfer would most likely be frustrated by the greens and the constant waiting to hit their tee shots and second shots. As for winter golf, it really is a good practice course when other options are too wet to play.

Played yesterday - course is in fine condition, greens very good. BUT, had to abandon round after scoring 41 after 9 in inluding 5 pars, because it look an astonishing 3 hours due to a geriatric 4 ball ahead playing off the white tees and barely reaching the ladies tees with their drives.
Will play again on a twilight ticket.

American Golf Classic 2013.

Breakfast, Dinner, 18 holes, putting comp, with prizes for all, and only £25 is an absolute bargain!

Greens in the best condition i've ever seen them. Beautiful condition. If only they could sort the fairways out, as they were rather patchy in places.

Great turn out too.

Thanks for the gear AG. See you in september!

Had a Society booked for Addington Court but the course was closed due to snow so we came down to Southern valley. No snow in sight and the course was in fantastic condition, especially the greens. A great example of how a winter course should be!
