Decent course

Great greens today. Fairways well kept too.

The greenkeepers should be out on the course much earlier though. Why they are still cutting grass after 11am is unknown.

Easy to find from the motorway.
Good welcome on arrival and plenty of information on the course layout.
Fairways were in great condition and the greens were super fast so you had to really think about your putts.
Club house was good and the staff were very friendly.

My first visit

Overall a good visit today although the website states £14.50 Monday and Tuesday i was charged £20. To be fair the course is worth it.
Felt a little rushed throughout the round by a 3 ball behind us at times as well.
Fantastic greens and fairways on a rather tricky course for my standard lol.

Better in Summer

Very nice club and excellent staff. Course has a few interesting holes and is definitely more challenging on a windy day. Drainage on far too many holes was poor and spoilt the round, really - far to boggy and slow greens.
I would definitely like to play again once the ground has dried out.

A really good course with well kept fairways. Some of the greens show the usual signs of divots from the winter season. 10 of the holes are dog legs although due to the design this is less of an issue than some other courses. Some of the bunkers are the deepest I've seen so far!

Played this course loads of times. Never had a better score round here. Greens in VGC Fairways the same. They've cut back a lot of the rough making rescues easier. Still a challenge but lovely to play. Monday is the best day for green fees £12.50.

Played the course once or twice before a few years ago now. Went the other day with a few friend and was an anticlimax, very disappointing in places! At £18 (£1 per hole) I expected the greens and fairways to be of a decent condition, of which they were not (given the time of the year), in comparison to other courses in the local area. The greens were very patchy, bare in places and made putting very difficult. Fairways were also patchy and needed work in places. Although green keepers have priority, we were made to wait on several occasions to take our shots up to 3 minutes whilst they cut around areas of the green, with no smile, acknowledgement or anything when they had finished. In addition to this, having not played the course in a while, were unaware of where the bells were on one or two of the holes. Having teed off on one of the hole and kindly said hello to one of the "members" behind us they replied abruptly, "Are you gonna let us through or what! Do you know how to ring a bell" Having waited to let them through, they hit their drives and then walked to the next tee without any acknowledgement and to be quite frank, rude! Every paying member/non-member has the right to play a course and the incident made us all feel unwelcome. Although the course is in the local area, I would very much highly doubt that I will either be recommending the course to friends, nor will I be coming back to the course ever again. With me being a member of another course in the local area, I would have expected a higher level of professionalism and personal conduct from both members and green keepers alike, I wouldn't say it is too much to ask for, common courtesy and manners.

Nice short course but makes up for it round the greens. The very short thick rough will spoil your little bump and run all day long and the putting can be very tricky. Over all a good little test

Good course but not at it's best

First time playing Sandhill GC as was in the area and reasonable green fee so decided to try it out. Friendly welcome in pro shop. Decent practice facilities, large putting green near driving range. Course has suffered from recent dry weather, fairways quite bare & worn in places, found myself giving some preferred lies on some fairways. Greens had just been worked on so a little sandy and unpredictable. Course layout quite flat, some interesting holes, tree lined and a couple of dog legs to negotiate. Last 3 holes give chance of improving your score if played right. Hopefully course will recover once it gets some much needed rain as not a bad track.

This course provides excellent value for money. It was in terrific condition and provides a variety of challenges. Suitable for all standards but be on your game or it may bite. Greens ran true and at a nice pace. Some blind shots, some up, some down and sloping fairways mean one has to concentrate. Not a poor hole on the course. Friendly staff in the pro shop and clubhouse, with decent drinks available. The members and regulars were very friendly and helpful. This is much better than many more expensive places in the area.

The course looked really good, the introduction of automated GPS led mowers I feel has improved the fairways no end. Greens had recently been scarified and sanded so were not their best, they will I am sure improve. Good pace of play, not held up or pushed. Twilight for ?19 is great value for money!

Good Considering

We have had a lot of rain in the past 6 months in South Yorkshire including 16mm just the day before we played. The course however was well presented. It was soft in some areas and some areas were roped off but I never went in those so don’t know how soft they must be.
Rough in trees really could do with cutting back to speed things up.

1st visit to Sandhill golf club

Course was in good condition although some fairways were a bit long (grass) as they had obviously had a lot of rain recently. The greens were quick and well manicured and many of them very tricky to read. There were a number of good holes and although there were some slopes they were not excessive and the layout was good. Very enjoyable experience and fees were reasonable and a pleasant clubhouse. Will certainly play again.

GOOD

The fairways and greens were very good for this time of year. Get off the fairways and you will be lucky to find your ball as the grass was quite long. Many bunkers had no rakes. Lack of ball cleaners, and where ball cleaners existed many were dry.

It\'s spot on, harder than you think as the greens are quite small. It\'s a nice walk mostly flat and not too bad on the old knees. All in all I can highly recommend the course.
