No longer the gem it was.
Having not played runcorn for over 10 years, it is not the course it was. However for the reduced fee, worth a game.A number of new greens and features introduced, but would classify it as work in progress. New greens on 2, 3, 6, 7, 14 and 17 present a different challenge from the more established greens in style and pace. No work carried out on tees and they are showing their age and one night say lack of care, finding a reasonable flat area with grass can take a little time. The definition of the fairways seemed to missing, but with late season and recent wet weather, may be a contributing factor. New pond introduced on the 8th, adds a little character - there are ponds under construction on 7th and 14th - the latter makes it different to spot should your ball Tobin that direction.
The professional was very welcoming as were the players on and off the course.
Overall view course no longer the gem of Cheshire and looks like they have their work cut out to bring it back to its former glory.
However a very tough challenge on this very tight tree lined course, still make it worth a game at the right price.

Slightly disappointed ????
A lovely layout and great welcome just a shame the greens had been sanded and spiked. Course had had a lot of rain and was not its usual standard.Reviewer Rating

lovely course
Lovely course you need to know where your playing. Finding the first tee was a bit awkward has you have to cross the 18th. We had a buggy which had a ball and club cleaner attached great idea.(Round played: Jul 2017 - Score: 90 Handicap: 22)
