This is easily the best winter course I have played recently. Yes its not long and when the wind is still the course is there to get after...but...when it blows its a different animal and a real test. At £20 for bacon roll/coffee and the golf it cant be beaten. Course is a natural links and so remains in cracking condition.

I originally wanted to play the adjacent Littlestone GC which is very highly rated but as I was playing with a 28+ handicapper and the green fee was £85 at the weekend I decided the best compromise was the Romney Warren.

We got off to a good start with a very friendly welcome in the Pro shop and having now returned from my trip to Littlestone I'm happy to report that at £25 at the weekend for a visitor I think this is the best value course I've ever played.

At only 5250 yards off the whites you expect little or no challenge but with tight undulating fairways, dog legs, blind tee shots, small greens, and some well positioned thick natural rough you still have to be playing well to score well. As it happens I played well but still only came away with 35 points from my 18 H/C.

The course is well manicured throughout with decent quality tees and greens and well judged rough i.e. tough and penal closer to the tee's but not too punishing if your drives leaks left or right when well struck.

On a sunny June afternoon it was a surprisingly picturesque course as well with a pleasant mix of natural fauna and flora mixed with a number of small natural waterhazards across its classic links topography. I even liked the site and sound of the miniature steam railway that runs along side some of the front 9 holes

Highly recommended for a visit and at less than £600 a year and no joining fee I think I'd consider moving to the Kent coast.

This is a very challenging links course for even the low handicapper. It is an open qualifying course. What makes it so good is the fact that even in good weather there is a breeze that changes from day to day. It is a thinkers course with lots of cleverly placed bunkers. But it is a beautiful course to play.
Kev Walker 17 handicap.

Very good

I was pleasantly surprised at how good the course was. The 1st green was a bit disappointing but after that very impressed and it was a lot cheaper than the course next door.

This is a links course which is constantly windy regardless of the weather. I happened to play this course with storm on the way and after a prolonged wet period. It drained quite well. Playing a links course is an experience but an acquired taste. The hosts were very friendly and made very welcome. They even sent an e-mail after my round hoping that I enjoyed myself and to keep in touch.

Picturesque course which was a pleasure to play. Not particularly long but with some challenging holes nonetheless. Good selection of breakfasts available to set you up for your round. Very friendly staff. Well worth a visit.

really good mini version of the championship course in great condition. A true links test, not the longest without a par 5 but still challenging

Weather made the course a challenge. Obviously much shorter than the championship course but still a good test.

Well worth a visit. Shorter course but if the wind blows it becomes a tough proposition. Very warm welcome and very friendly staff in the 19th. Will certainly return.

Gem of a course

A stunning little course with some tricky holes, some of the quickest greens I've played on plus 40mph winds made it a great day for golf
