What the club says: Queens Park is renowned as a rural haven in the middle of Bournemouth and celebrated its centenary in 2005. Once a regular on the European Tour, the course has hosted many major professional tournaments including players of the calibre of Tony Jacklin, Henry Cotton and Seve Ballesteros. There remains a distinct sense of history as well as a very mature and challenging course, where management of the game takes the driving seat to power play. The fairways meander freely through many acres of lovely heathers, colourful gorse and all in a wonderful pine woodland setting. The greens are fast and true, providing a good challenge to even the best golfers.

This municipal course is a good challenge. Drains well and a safe bet for a winter round. Greens have been infected and have quite a few bare looking patches but they do putt okay. Be aware of people walking their dogs as they won't take any notice of you. Still worth playing

Very good Pay & Play

Although this course has changed over the years and has hosted events with the likes of Seve playing here, it still offers a great challenge. It's a public space and you will come across people walking their dogs but keep your concentration or you will easily run up a high score. Good in the winter as it rarely shuts.

Often beats the weather. Course drains very well and is often the only course in play during inclement weather. The greens were in good condition for December and the majority of the fairways had some run. Definitely worth a visit in winter

Staff are lovely! But the course is below average! Greens haven’t been looked after at all! The players that attend the course don’t understand the basic clothing requirements. I won’t be attending again as it took far too long to do 9 holes due to a people in trackies and trainers hitting the ball all over the place. Such a shame!!

Good holiday course. Normally open throughout the year. All main greens and tees, when we played it had been raining for most of the week and still the course was mainly dry.

Course in good condition

Considering the amount of rain we've had the course is good. Quite a lot of the greens show where pitch marks were or worms emerging - the nature of the course and time of year also means that leaves, acorns etc are widespread; BUT nevertheless a pleasurable experience.

Dog Walkers are a nuisance

Used to be a great course. Layout is challenging but the dog walkers are a real nuisance as they don’t understand golf and like to walk down the fairways. Bunkers are full of paw prints, more like kitty litter.

Open course, interesting hills and vales

They've just treated the greens, so not a good time to judge these. Very quiet in terms of golfing on the course on the early afternoon. An open course, mainly straightforward, but with some hidden dips that can catch one unawares. The only drawback is that members of the public have many walking routes across the course which, together with dogs, will hold golfers up at times. Disappointed that they didn't show apparent awareness of golfers or show appreciation when we waited patiently for them. But golf enjoyable anyway.

Decent value challenge

My second visit to Queens Park but the first was 25 years ago and I don't remember that far back! Played at 5pm on Saturday evening and barely saw another golfer; mine was the last tee time. Playing as a single I got round all 18 holes in 2 hours 40 mins, so pace was good. I did however see quite a few people, either out walking or with their dog(s). I know a lot of reviewers found the public access to the course a real pain but I was mentally prepared for this which helped, and everyone I spoke to was friendly. That said, twice I had to ask people to move out the way which isn't ideal and it would be annoying if I played here regularly for sure. I was a bit concerned about a couple of blind shots that I might hit someone, especially at the first hole but thankfully I didn't.

The course itself is relatively short but I only used my driver 3 times, despite it being my favourite club, as the fairways were firm, the holes mostly pretty tight and often with very little rough before the trees/bushes, plus I didn't know the layout. Keep it straight and you can score well here though.

The condition of the fairways was ok for late August on such a public track, and the greens were fine without being anything special, but I wasn't expecting them to be. The bunkers mostly looked pretty terrible in condition. It feels like a bit of an old school design, which I quite enjoyed, with some blind shots and clever use of elevation changes to fool your eye, especially for a first time visitor. Mostly it looks quite nice too with some pine trees and heather around. Hard to imagine the European Tour played here but that was 40 odd years ago I believe, and a lot has changed in golf since then I guess. There was a small pro shop, bar and practice putting green but no other facilities.

Overall, I might come back one day, especially if I need a quick, cheap-ish round. I did enjoy it but I'm not local and there are so many better courses to visit locally, albeit for a little more money.

Hills and valleys.

Thought it was outstanding. Greens were good. Some tight holes early on, iron off the tee down the first five for me. Caught out on 5, plays along way up hill. Could do with hitting a draw off the tee here. Can do with moving it both ways around here. Little fade best on 16, if you hit it straight the left to right slope can help you. A draw is going to be tough to play down there, unless your maybe flying trees on the right and trying to get on or close to the green which is 270 away in a small secluded spot. Other holes like 11 a draw around the corner will cut down your approach. 8 is a great par 5, if you get away straight you have a blind second, green is downhill, through a gap and slightly to the left. You can go over some tree limbs on the left, ground slops from left to right slightly down the hill. 6 is a tough 5, probably hit into a valley after shot 2, then huge uphill 3rd of around 70 yards.

Good value for a good course

If you want to play golf and be challenged in a variety of ways then this is a great course for that. Each hole poses a unique challenge with tee shots and approaches being crucial round here. Either you play a great round here or you get punished by the course. Regardless, it is a great course steeped in history and great value for money

Definitely not worth the money!

Having paid ?28 each to play here with a group of 15 I was extremely disappointed in the state of the greens and some of the fairway and tees. The greens were dreadful, my ball got airborne when I putted. Not sure what the issue is but would not recommend playing here anytime soon.

I've played here a number of times but this was definitely the worst condition I've seen the course in ??

Worst condition I?ve seen

The Bournemouth Sunday Crew Golf Society and I have been regular players at this course over the last 7 years , yesterday?s round - the first for all after easing of lockdown , was supposed to be a good welcome back for all
Poor condition all round - Tees, Fairways, Approaches and especially the Greens ! - Pitted, long grass, divots and cycle tracks - not worth ?28 ( used to be ?15 - 18 months ago
We have never played at this course as bad a condition as yesterday
It is a municipal course and public have shared rights if way -BUT - no respect for golfers from Public or their Dogs , children running over fairways without being told by thier parents to look for golfers and last but not least - a whole family of children and parents playing football on the 18th Green
We won't be returning and the course will loose revenue worth approx ?3,640 a year !
