Poor maintenence poor condition

Shame Cray used to be good...the course owners seem to be interested in profit over condition of the course seem no money has been invested in tees greens fairways not to mention the clubhouse which is falling down, also sparse pro shop....

Good luck not getting robbed on this course

They appear to have an issue of gangs of 'Travellers' roaming the golf courses, harassing the players. This can be as little as intimidation of the players whilst they are playing, to stealing golf clubs/equipment and hijacking golf carts with everything on it.

Avoid if you can

This course used to be okay but is in a terrible state or repair. As others have noted, temp greens in place in spring because two greens are unplayable (no grass on them and doesn't look like much work done to rectify it), those greens in operation are v poor too, there's three types of grass on them! Never seen that before, your ball can actually have 3 different speeds on a single putt. The tee boxes are full of holes, not flat and in some places lacking grass too. Where they've moved the tees to tiny patches where they may be some grass and a stance where your foot isn't in a crater it leaves some strange tee shots, pointing at trees or away from the hole. It's really not worth playing here at the moment. Shame, used to be good place to practice for the money but it's now so shoddy I'll go somewhere else.

I have been a member at cray for about 12 years and i must say that it is in a very bad state at the moment . the rough is far to long and only a few yards from the fairways and of cause you have got the motor bikes that ride across the greens . I just hope that my time who run the course read these bad reports and do something about it .they charge too much for what is a poor course.

This course should not be open All Greens are diseased and generally the course is poor . The additional par 3 at the 14th replacing another hole is an obvious afterthought. This is a very low standard course

Played here earlier this month. As it was twilight deal I only paid £13 to play the Cray Valley course. I thought this was going to be a steal but sadly was not so pleased. The Fairways were in generally great condition with plenty of lush grass (they could be excellent if cut a little shorter). Unfortunately what let the course down was the greens. At the rack rate of £28 I would have been really annoyed with the quality of the greens. While I know it is early in the season and the weather has not been great this spring there is no excuse for the wide ranging annual meadow grass that is taking over sum of the greens. If I can stop this in my lawn a team of full time greenkeepers with plenty of treatments can stop this in the greens. In addition while many of the tees were in good nick there were some shockers (including one where the yellow tee had been set on such a slope you would think you were hitting from a wayward drive onto the adjoining slopes.

Come on Orpington pull your finger out and get the greens up to what should be a basic standard!

Ignoring the state of the course due to the weather the greens were largely unplayable thanks to a combination of motorcycle tracks and horse hoof imprints. At £22/ round when the course was dead it's too expensive, they need to review and go back to the £15/ round previously and also do a little more to ensure the course is secure and playable.

Lots of golfers on the course who had their kids with them.
