Played the course on Sunday and really enjoyed it. Great course and in good condition. Nice challenging course for people who don’t do boring. Would say take a couple of extra balls (just in case) ????

We haven't played at Ormonde Fields for over 10 year so a return was well overdue. We were not disappointed, the course was in great condition for April, the greens although a little slow were in good condition with a even roll the course is a good test of golf and clubhouse staff were very friendly. If your looking for a good test of golf at a very good price then pay them a visit.

Ormonde Fields Review

Round played February 2025. The greens were great for the time of year, unfortunately this was the only positive from our own experience. The course was very wet in places, lots of plugged tee shots and mud balls (yes I know this is winter golf). On some holes a fairway shot felt like playing out of the rough. However, the course was tidy and seems to be well kept. It has been a few years since I last played here but Ormonde Fields is certainly not a course to play in winter. As with most courses this time of year it struggles with drainage. I would recommend playing here during the summer for a better experience.

A very tricky course

A very tricky course to play with very few straight holes. The most dog legs you will play at one venue. Lots of established trees keep the mind focused to keep the ball in play as best as you can. Nice long par 3's with plenty of protecting bunkers. Clubhouse and shop are OK, just adequate for their purpose. Practice facilities not particularly brilliant but again adequate. Good value for money, friendly staff and the food and drink whilst on the more expensive side was very tasty and good quality. Won't be in a hurry to return or recommend.

Always a pleasure to play this hidden gem of a course. Plenty of grass on the fairways and greens slowed the ball down, during this very hot and humid day.

Ormonde Fields Golf Course

We played a two ball around the course recently starting mid morning following a few days of quite heavy rain. The course was quite wet and boggy in some areas. This wasn't a real problem. The greens and fairways were in good condition, overall we enjoyed playing the course.

The course proved difficult for all three of us today, all scoring high. The greens looked good but were slow, perhaps had been watered but too much grass on them. The rough was also difficult to get out of and the ground was very hard in places causing irregular bounces. But we enjoyed the course as always, very friendly staff, we just played badly.

little beauty

Ormonde fields is a cracking little course. It is very tight and requires accuracy at all times. The course was VERY wet, but the greens were still great. The layout is creative and has a great variety of holes. Even though it was very busy the pace of play was spot on.

Interesting and hilly

A very interesting and hilly course. Some tough holes with careful precision shots required to score well. Decent enough condition within the current hot dry spell, greens were fairly slow but true. Nice clubhouse and shop and very friendly staff. Great value for money. Lovely sandwich. The only non-positive comment would be a lack of imagination on the design layout of the course, there are 14 dog legs, some quite severe.

An absolute hidden gem

This is a must play course in the Midlands; quiet and hidden away it was in particularly good condition given the recent drought weather, fairways were much greener than anywhere else I had seen. The layout is very interesting, with many risk-reward holes, and good play is rewarded but bad play is punished.throughout the course, all carefully placed to catch poor shots. There are many ditched and ponds The interest begins with a 90 degree dogleg short par 4 over a pond. The 4th hole is a stunning par 5, a downhill tee shot and then a narrow approach to the green which drops off on two sides and has a road on the other. The 10th in one of the most challenging par 5 holes I have ever come across, a boomerang-shaped beast of over 600 yards off the white tees. The 17th is the standout par 4, 446 yards with a blind drive over a hill to a fairway that sweeps around to the left with trouble on both sides. Having played the course the first day I was so impressed I went back and played it the very next day. It is definitely a course where you benefit fro mhaving played it before. And at £15 for a midweek afternoon round, you will not find a better value round anywhere - a great golf course.
