Course in great condition

Course really well maintained. Fairways and semi-rough great. Greens challenging and well-manicured. Definitely worth playing

Interesting and hilly

A very interesting and hilly course. Some tough holes with careful precision shots required to score well. Decent enough condition within the current hot dry spell, greens were fairly slow but true. Nice clubhouse and shop and very friendly staff. Great value for money. Lovely sandwich. The only non-positive comment would be a lack of imagination on the design layout of the course, there are 14 dog legs, some quite severe.

An absolute hidden gem

This is a must play course in the Midlands; quiet and hidden away it was in particularly good condition given the recent drought weather, fairways were much greener than anywhere else I had seen. The layout is very interesting, with many risk-reward holes, and good play is rewarded but bad play is punished.throughout the course, all carefully placed to catch poor shots. There are many ditched and ponds The interest begins with a 90 degree dogleg short par 4 over a pond. The 4th hole is a stunning par 5, a downhill tee shot and then a narrow approach to the green which drops off on two sides and has a road on the other. The 10th in one of the most challenging par 5 holes I have ever come across, a boomerang-shaped beast of over 600 yards off the white tees. The 17th is the standout par 4, 446 yards with a blind drive over a hill to a fairway that sweeps around to the left with trouble on both sides. Having played the course the first day I was so impressed I went back and played it the very next day. It is definitely a course where you benefit fro mhaving played it before. And at £15 for a midweek afternoon round, you will not find a better value round anywhere - a great golf course.

Great day, the course was at it's best, some tricky holes, a lot of dog legs which means you have to play for position.
Very friendly club and very good value in today's market.

Worth the money. Quite a challenge, takes some course management. Not wise just to pull out the driver on every hole!

Feb - very wet but playable

After a few days of heavy rain not sure what to expect so here is the lowdown...
Winter mat tees
Fairways wet but suggested use of fairway mats made it so much better (and keeps your clubs clean ;-)). Ball often plugged. Some very muddy areas.
I think winter rules in rough, and bunkers.
Summer greens, which was very welcome, but varied in length, speed (some wetter than others) and actually was the hardest part of the game to adjust to - for me.
Overall try not to let the conditions get to you and enjoy the day

Great Value

Always great value and a good challenge for all standards of golfers. Back 9 greens had been recently hollow tined but the that maintenance has to happen and we wouldn't want the course closing for it.
