Ormonde Fields Review
Round played February 2025. The greens were great for the time of year, unfortunately this was the only positive from our own experience. The course was very wet in places, lots of plugged tee shots and mud balls (yes I know this is winter golf). On some holes a fairway shot felt like playing out of the rough. However, the course was tidy and seems to be well kept. It has been a few years since I last played here but Ormonde Fields is certainly not a course to play in winter. As with most courses this time of year it struggles with drainage. I would recommend playing here during the summer for a better experience.Reviewer Rating

A very tricky course
A very tricky course to play with very few straight holes. The most dog legs you will play at one venue. Lots of established trees keep the mind focused to keep the ball in play as best as you can. Nice long par 3's with plenty of protecting bunkers. Clubhouse and shop are OK, just adequate for their purpose. Practice facilities not particularly brilliant but again adequate. Good value for money, friendly staff and the food and drink whilst on the more expensive side was very tasty and good quality. Won't be in a hurry to return or recommend.Reviewer Rating

Feb - very wet but playable
After a few days of heavy rain not sure what to expect so here is the lowdown...Winter mat tees
Fairways wet but suggested use of fairway mats made it so much better (and keeps your clubs clean ;-)). Ball often plugged. Some very muddy areas.
I think winter rules in rough, and bunkers.
Summer greens, which was very welcome, but varied in length, speed (some wetter than others) and actually was the hardest part of the game to adjust to - for me.
Overall try not to let the conditions get to you and enjoy the day

Improving Facility
The takeover by members has resulted in substantial reinvestment that is being put back into the course structure. Greens have improved as have the tee boxes and fairways. Bunkers have also improved. I like the layout but the standard of maintenance has always let this facility down. This has clearly been addressed and from the number of other players, I saw this is now becoming a very popular, keenly priced course.Well worth a visit(Round played: Apr 2019 - Score: 52 Handicap: )

Good course
Good variety of layouts for holes, all par 3's need good club selection. Par 5's not easy especially the 10th. Overall a good course to visit.(Round played: Mar 2019 - Score: 94 Handicap: )

not a bad course
Enjoyable round of golf quite a tight course not a course to try and blast your way around with the driver tricky landing areas of the tee beware the tenth tee shot i was a victim to out of bounds on the left best oiption a 5 iron or hybrid club of the tee.A littlle wet but earlier downpours cxaused this not a course i suspect for winter golf but all in all reasonable value and very quiet for a Friday afternoon.Reviewer Rating

Nice course when dry, played before when wet and the course, doesn't drain well. However, when dry it is a really good and interesting course and great value for money, particularly £10 for a twilight round.
