What the club says: "Come and test your ability on one of the best courses in the East Midlands" Horsley is a course that any true golf-lover will want to go back to. You will find subtle but neat improvements in 2019 to the tees , greens and surrounds.

Located in the popular golf triangle just North of Derby, 1 mile from Morley and Breadsall, Horsley Lodge is a true test of golf, with 18 cleverly designed holes, most of them featuring water of some kind. Tree-lined fairways meander around some 180 acres of wonderfully undulating, Derbyshire countryside, with hardly a house in sight.
Horsley is a really interesting layout too, with each shot one to ponder. Heroes can go for it! Mortals can play safe. Once you reach the massive USGA standard undulating greens, all 18 of which will require even more thinking about.
Designed by former World Champion and Walker Cup captain, Peter McEvoy (also responsible for Fota Island & Powerscourt in Ireland) and built by the same team responsible for Loch Lomond and Valderrama, Horsley is currently highest ranked and higest rated course in Derbyshire and East Midlands on this, and many other sites. Off peak green fees just £18 a round.

Horsley Lodge has a driving range, a golf shop manned by the ever-present PGA Pro Kevin Lock, always keen to offer any advice you need.
The complex boasts an exceptional clubhouse with 14 uniquely designed bedrooms in a highly rated hotel, as well as a club room and golf bar and outstanding restaurant on site with a menu that serves tapas and traditional English classics and steaks. Under Tom Williams, the new Hotel and Clubhouse Manager you are ensured service of an exceptional quality.

Handy too for the golfer, and open 6 days a week, is a "Halfway House" serving up hot and cold food, drinks and snacks.
NEW General Manager Richard Odell joins Horsley Lodge from Sherwood Forest

Playing all year on Summer greens, suitable to all levels of golfer, this proprietory club owned and run by the same family for 28 years, now truly shows a true maturity in both course and clubhouse that belies its relatively youthful age.

Green fees from just £18 twilight to £28 peak.(£34 Weekends)

Good value Play and stay packages from £107 per person available in the unique 14 bedroom on-site hotel. (Check out our Tripadvisor!)

Dry in parts but good

Seems the course suffered in the hot summer, but playing good again now most areas have recovered, still bare patches around the green on 6th.

Best Value by far, "Open quality greens"

Bone dry, but hey so is Carnoustie! and the rest of the UK. The greens are well irrigated though and although the tees need water the Pro told me that a new water system is now installed. Quality little Pro shop with sound advice. Great food after and beer was £3.50 a pint

Played this course for the first time in Saturday 14th July. Yes the course was suffering from the dry weather but still played really well. The greens were very receptive and putted well. The lay out of the course and the interest value is very good. Would certainly play it again.

Excellent for time of year

After a wet Spring this course was in perfect shape last week (April 20th) We played after a PGA competition so it was a great time to play, greens fast and true as they had double cut them (we were told)
Our three ball play twice a year here and for the first visit of the year we can't wait to come back. Shot 87 too!

Course in fantastic condition

After all the snow and rain I expected the course to be playing on temporary greens and teeing off on temporary tees. No temporary greens and they were in fantastic condition and only one temporary tee. Well done Erewash golf club

winter golf

Golfshake Team ReviewEnjoyable round.Greens a little bit bobbly as they have been left longer than usual due to recent inclement weather. Usually excellent but recent work has had its effect. Some fairways wet and soggy but no surprise given recent bad weather.Few inland courses still using summer greens.Worth a visit.

Wish it were nearer

Really good course especially for the medium handicapper. Friendly atmosphere on and off the course with really good facilities. We organised a fund-raising recent there recently and the management couldn't have been more supportive. I just wish it were nearer where I live because its a club I would join.
