Deceptively good course. Don't be put off by the Newton Aycliffe address.

Short but surprisingly challenging course, well maintained and with some interesting hazards and demanding sloping and undulating greens.

This is far by the best council course I've played, there's actual sand in the bunkers and all the course is well looked after and at £13 is a bargain

Midweek price is currently only £8 and this in no way reflects the condition of the course. For winter golf it was very good, unlike my golf. Tees were smooth, although a couple were on tee mats, fairways were neat and striped up, greens looked like they had been recently worked on and holes were evident but still ran smooth and true but were a little slow.

A very enjoyable course to play and well worth a look, I'll be adding it to my circuit and playing there again.

After reading some of the views expressed by previous visitors I really didn't know what to expect from this course...

But I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The majority of fairways are tree lined and well defined, not too short. Bunkers are strategically placed on fairways and around greens, which are smooth, quite quick and a challenge to read.

Course is a little on the short side, and 'big hitters' will find some of the par 4s easily reachable, but challenging par 3s and difficult greens counter this.

Very good for a council run course, greens are well maintained.

Pro shop is well stocked and staff helpful and polite.

Club house is a seperate building which houses the sports hall etc... It is clean and serves a variety of drinks and bar meals/snacks.

Played here last year and didn't finish my round, both the course and myself couldn't take any more rain.

Returned today, and I was not disappointed.

This course requires every shot in the book, uphill/downhill lies, feet above/below the ball, over sand, over water, dog leg left, dog leg right.

The course itself is well maintained and enjoyable to play. My only complaint is without knowing the layout, it is quite a walk from green to tee on a few holes, nothing a few signs wouldn't fix.
