What The Club Says
Founded on 6 May 1904 and is considered to be one of the finest courses in the South of England.
This undulating golf course has considerable charm and, with its large greens and a number of long par fours, provides you with a deceptively difficult but rewarding challenge.
The golf course bears the imprint of four famous golf course architects. It was designed by James Braid in 1904, then a youthful and recent open champion and one of the famous triumvirate with Vardon and Taylor. It was extensively redesigned in 1913 by Harry Colt, modified by Tom Simpson in 1930 and three new holes were designed by Donald Steel in 2001. The course as initially laid down by James Braid was some 5,500 yards in length but was lengthened by him to 6,000 yards in 1908, primarily because the newly invented Haskell rubber-cored golf ball was having just as dramatic effect on distances as is the new technology today. The course today stands at just under 6,500 yards.

Ladies Open review
We had a fabulous day at North Hants, albeit in the continuous rain! Even this didn’t dampen our enthusiasm for a wonderful course and warm welcome, together with a delicious buffet lunch. (Jackie even managed to find us some of the elusive chocolate brownies and couldn’t do more to help.) This club is run very professionally and easily achieves the perfect mix of informality and tradition. The course is in brilliant condition with true greens. Despite the rain, no greens were flooding and the bunkers were draining well. A very big thank you to all the organisers for a superb Ladies Open.Reviewer Rating

What have they done?!!
This used to be a hidden gem but the extensive changes have ruined this once great test. Swathes of attractive trees have been cut down, but the course condition hasn't improved, the visuals are worse, and the noise from the roads is very obvious. Poorly planted and burnt heather (including at the top of many bunkers), tree stumps, and barren areas are everywhere. Very poor value considering the prices.Reviewer Rating

Living in the past!
I’m not quite sure what the hype is all about at this club. Recently played in a pro/am here and I found the place really poor. Don’t get me wrong, clubhouse/facilities/food are all very good, but clearly that’s where the investment has been spent. I believe they are charging £80 on a county card (discount!) or £150 for a normal G/F but the course condition was very very poor. Tess/fairways were dreadful and the greens were fast but very untrue. The local pro shot-1 and played well but couldn’t understand how the greens worked. Anyway, there are plenty of other courses that are better value but also if you want to part with £150 there are many many other places very much better than this one.Reviewer Rating
