What the club says: Nelson Golf Club was founded in 1902 at Kibble Bank (9 holes). The Club then moved to Marsden Heights in 1917, with the official opening of the clubhouse early in 1921. The club is situated on a plateau overlooking Nelson and Burnley and visitors are able to reward themselves with the finest series of panoramic views of landscape it is possible to imagine. The late Dr. MacKenzie who laid out the course managed a design which has been skilfully planned to avoid any wearisome climbing. The course is laid out in two loops of nine and the 1st and 10th holes are very conveniently situated by the clubhouse. A large practice ground is available. On a visit to Nelson Golf Club, you will be assured of a warm Lancastrian welcome and be able to enjoy a challenging round of golf and then relax in the clubhouse and savour excellent catering.

Great course in fantastic condition, the green"s were probably the best I have played on for a long time.
also this his how a golf course should treat visitors, from the catering & bar staff to the guy in the pro shop,
even on the 6th tee a gentleman approached us from an adjacent green shook everyone in the groups hand
and wished them a great round and enjoyable visit, (he was the president of the club).
will definitely be returning in the future , and would recommend Nelson GC to golf societies and individual golfers looking for a venue
in Lancashire.

Superb Moorland Track
This really is a superb moorland track, similar to Egerton & Dunscar.Really well laid out with some challenging holes. Look out for the drop on the par 5 3rd, keep to the left, it could add 50 yards to your drive!
The greens were superb fast & true for the time of year. Bunkers OK
I agree with a previous comment probably 3 of the prettiest par 3's you'll ever see.
It's par 70, but so what! It's a really enjoyable round of golf. Topped off by friendly members & some fantastic views.

This is one of the best value courses in the north of England. Got to play this gem for £20 on a Sunday through the clubs brs booking system. It has so much hole variation, and in my opinion has some of the best par 3’s around. We played after a full days rain the previous day and the greens were true but very quick I would be terrified playing on these greens in mid summer. All in all a great track and can’t wait to return.
