Enjoy this challenging but fair course, some great holes to test your game. Position is important on some holes, so resist taking driver off the tee as you are rewarded for staying on fairways. Always friendly staff and members. Hole 16 is a test, as the green has a stream running around the entire front portion with a bunker and pond waiting for overhit shots at the back. Club selection and position is important to give yourself every chance of making the green.

hard and fast

despite the heat the course played well. the rough has been significantly lengthened in some places and some greens enlarged since I last played here which added to the challenge. As always the greens were top notch, especially considering the conditions. At £10 after 3pm you can't beat it!!

Good little course

Very enjoyable round of golf, not a long course but asks lots of interesting questions. Made very welcome, and will look to come back soon. Thanks.

Great Venue

Played this course for the first time on a twilight deal (£10). The clubhouse staff were very friendly and made us welcome. The course was in great condition and is very challenging but really enjoyable with great views throughout. I will definitely be returning and recommend anyone in the area to give this club a try!

Hidden gem

Handily located just off of J25 of the M1 this course was played via a current Groupon offer making it exceptionally good value. Course was in great condition, given the recent months of wet weather, and the pro shop, bar and members we met were all very friendly. Would definately play again.

Great course, improving all the time.

This is my home course so I'm a little biased, but I love playing here. Great variety of holes and some good challenges for all levels of golfer. Friendly and helpful Pro. Comfy and welcoming clubhouse, good food at good prices. Well worth a visit.

Welcoming course worth playing.

Tucked away off the main road this is a lovely friendly course with a variety of challenges.Staff cannot do enough to help you and although there are no set tee off times, on the five or six occasions we have visited we have had no issues. Choose a lunch time start and you will have the course virtually to yourselves. Good testing holes over water and interesting elevated tees. The club facilities are dated but the welcome and service are first class.

Little Gem just off M1 (j25)

Visited Maywood golf club in November from a voucher we had obtained. Contacted the club on several occasions and they were always polite and informed me how to play on the day. There is no booking system in play so its just turn up on the day which can leave you somewhat restricted. Staff were very friendly and so were the members. Facilities were good, club shop, 2 driving nets, practice ground, club house serving food and a putting green. Winter tees and one temporary green were in play throughout (a little disappointing) but understandable but this does remove some of the skill and reduces the distance on most holes with one exception of a par 3 that goes from 160 yards to 200 yards (a bit of a shock to the system). Greens were in very good condition for the time of year fairways were a little long in places - a few more sign posts would assist visitors navigating between tee and green especially the winter tees. Good test of golf - would return to play in the summer - ?25 per round. Key features - the view from the second tee the island green on the 16th. Overall a very enjoyable round of golf.

Played here on 7th October as part of a Groupon voucher deal that entitled us to a round of golf, sausage cob and tea. The course was in lovey condition, fairways was cut beautifully and overall condition of the course was superb considering it was the start of October. We played here about a month ago but as they had just sanded the greens they asked if we would like to hold on to the voucher and just pay £10 each for a round so we said yes and hence came back again to use the voucher.
We have played about 4 different courses around Leicestershire in the last two months and Maywood by far has been the most friendly and welcoming course. The pro is very friendly and the bar staff are also very welcoming and will chat to you as will the regular members and make you feel very welcome. The greens were in Fantastic condition and were very receptive. Lots of turns that will definitely test you. Fairways are pretty tight and the best advise I can give is make sure you have an electric trolley ???? the first hole uphill walk will shatter you !!
The 4th hole par 3 is awesome, you hit up to an elevated green and when it's windy you better make sure you club up.
Would I return??? Definitely !!
They even presented us with 2 for 1 vouchers after the round. We will definitely be returning in the next few weeks.
Finally the £8 large breakfast is a must .... do not leave here without having this.....just make sure you eat this after your round as there's no way you'll make it around the round otherwise ????
Alps shot 88 playing off 13.
