Marple has got to be the worst course I have ever played,with the condition of the greens the most obvious fault. When I played in May 2014 they were atrocious; the fairways at most courses are better than the greens here.
I found the course in general very uninspiring, with only a couple of holes having any true quality. Like many dull parkland courses there are far too many trees.
It is also dangerous. The 16th tee shot is a blind drive over bushes and trees directly across the 18th fairway. I am staggered that no-one has yet been killed!
The members I met were very friendly and welcoming, The mystery is why they pay a grand a year to play here.

Pleasant course
Re-visited Marple, remains in good condition and quite a gentile round. Front nine is quite straightforward, back 9 more of a challenge. Sunday afternoon rate of ?15 was good value.Reviewer Rating

Really nice course set in an amazing place. Short but challenging. It’s a bit unpredictable, difficult to read.

Down narrow lane but good views of the City. Quite a flat course and have to cross over on some tees.
Overall very good value and very friendly reception. Good bar prices

With reference to the previous review there were some problems with the condition of Marple during April and May. These have now been rectified and the course is back in excellent condition. Most reviews of Marple are postiive. It is not the longest course around, but has some tricky and challenging holes. Visitors are always made very welcome.
