Nice course worth playing

First time playing Lymm GC in one of their open events. Friendly welcome in clubhouse and pro shop, everything well organised. Good practice facilities. To be honest course was quite scruffy in areas especially the front nine, grass some fairways was long and hard to define from semi rough, not sure whether that was intentional as it gave it a moorland feel to it, didn't detract from the overall enjoyment of playing the course. The back nine different story, well kept fairways and greens seem much better and truer. Was impressed with the layout of the course, relatively flat and some long par 3s. NIce clubhouse with patio to enjoy well earned beers in the late afternoon sun. Would certainly play again sometime.

Decent track, but.....

Played in Jan 2022 and enjoyed the course in decent weather considering the time of year, some good holes but ?40 ?special offer? price in winter is over-priced. Food in the clubhouse was standard fare, but again nothing special.

Ordinary with a few nice holes

A pleasant course but no wow factor. Used Open fairways so £40 for a 2 ball - which was spot on value - it is certainly not a £40 course. Pretty tight in places so Greens close to some tees a few boring up and down holes but a few i really enjoyed. The 3rd is very good test but beware the players below you on 11th (arguably the tee could be moved further right to avoid th danger!?). The signature 6th along the ship canal is very nice and worth a photo. The short 9th is a nice looking one shotter. The 11th is a good hole -very tight and the 12th is pretty tree lined par 5. Nice elevated tee on 15 and the 16th is a brute - the only really tough hole.

A nice course. I've not played it for 25 years. I'll play again but not in a mad hurry

Cracking course

Played for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. Playing like a links as was so dry due to the weather. Not sure it would be so links like if it was green. Tough challenge especially the front nine but still forgiving if wayward at times. Not one bad hole on there. For ?18 it was a bargain will defo be back. Estrella on tap (although ?4.30 a pint :-(. )

Excellent condition. No "blind" shots so easy for visitors to follow

We were a mini-society..........just 6 of us playing, so 2 X 3 players.
Good points (of which there are plenty).
Fairways in excellent condition and cut just long enough to feel comfortable.
As per title.....no "blind" shots. I hate playing new courses when you do not know what is up ahead.
Bunkers were well placed so even high handicappers were not unfairly punished.
Club house is really nice with good choice of beers/lagers (didn't check prices).
One REALLY negative.........the green keepers...GRRHHHH .
First hole!!! our first 3 ball had completed it. Our 3 ball was on fairway when they came along with a trailer.....driving past us to our right. I SWEAR THIS IS TRUE......I had taken my (good) shot at the green when they, WITHOUT LOOKING, turned across us.....KNOCKING MY BALL INTO THE TREES and proceed to spray heavy dark sand all over our green. The sand was just left there for us to try and put over and unfortunately every green was affected the same way.
So!!!!! may good points but Lymn GC..please teach your green keepers some manners.

A very good course with plenty of challenges. It is a mixture of parkland and heathland. There are good practice areas consisting of a pitching area , a driving range but limited to irons. There are nets and a chipping area and of course putting. The clubhouse is very nice and welcoming with the usual menu. Altogether a very pleasant experience.

We got a very good value weekday green fee of £26. Course was in great condition and the greens were nice and fast. Play was a bit slow but the members were complaining so was probably a rarity and the back 9 got a lot quicker. Staff in pro shop were friendly as were the members. Challenging course with some long par 4s and some tough par 5s. Just one boring par 3. Nice countryside and even the Thelwall Viaduct in view is quite dramatic!

Enjoyed a good morning's golf, the front 9 whilst not too difficult to navigate you do have to have an awareness of where paths, tees and greens cross from a safety perspective, there are some interesting holes and really enjoyed the back nine.

Positives:
A unique course for the area, in that it varies from parkland to heathland. Holes 3 to 10 lie on the most elevated part of the course on the banks of Manchester Ship Canal. It is here the best golf is, with some very memorable holes including the 3rd, 5th, 6th and 9th as some of the best you will find in Cheshire. Greens are usually excellent all year round, and firm. Clubhouse is small, but very new and great for a drink afterwards.

Negatives
Shame that you cant play off fairways in the winter - (you have to lift and place in the nearest semi, or play off a mini mat).
Cant help thinking that if they sculpted the bunkers a little better (in the true challenging style of a heathland - ala Ganton) and tarted up the tee boxes then it would be really great. Some more ball washers wouldnt go amiss also!

Overall: Really good course and definitely worth playing
