CHEAP AND NASTY
what happened to lydd ? Used to be such a great couse but is getting worse every year. Course maintenance is terrible. Tees have no grass. Greens been hollow tined with a blunt spoon and the bunkers ? Half have been filled in badly or the other half have ankle deep weeds or full of shingle . After lockdown, littlestone, sene valley etc etc are in A1 condition so no excuses there. Such a shame but i think the owners of lydd have given up.

run down but cheap
Lots of bunkers with no sand and tee boxes are bad. However greens are decent and fairways OK, cheap round of golf but don't expect too much from the course.

Played in august 2015 at the end of a 4 day golfing break. The course condition seemed OK, greens were good but the fairways had been flooded at some point prior and were obviously recovering. The course itself was very repetitive and didn't really challenge a great deal. Some water hazards and some long carries but nothing spectacular. Having played the course many years prior and having fond memories of it, it was slightly disappointing once we started to play.
Not a bad track but nothing special either.

Surprisingly good
I was surprised at how challenging the course was, some blind views to the fairways but that made it a good challenge. The greens could have been better but I heard that they had been damaged by birds.

Course in not bad condition given the over night rain, greens running well. As always the wind was the hardest part of the course. Character building.

Friendly staff, beautiful open countryside. Very flat course so easy walk. Some tight fairways, lots of water boardering the fairways. Greens in good condition. Played the course twice now and will play again.

£20 for a reason. Tees were woeful, greens lumpy and patchy and fairways pretty tatty. But for £20 you get to give pretty much all the clubs in your bag a run out. Wouldn’t rush back though.

Course in much better condition than earlier in the year, cross between true links and parkland golf. Greens slow but running true.

Trevor
A friend and I played this course yesterday and despite there being little wind found it to be a fair test of golf.
We played off the White tees and the course was well set up and challenging. There are lots of drives were the fairway pinches in at around 200yds so accuracy and placement was key to a good score.
The greens were well maintained and had a consistent pace.
There are lots and lots of bunkers on the course and they are not so well maintained and the one thing that lets the course down. Weeds are abundant in them and they show little sign of having been raked on a regular basis.
That said, the course is in a lovely setting, it's a bargain green fee and few will break their handicap on their first visit.

Nice
Not a bad course, but due to wind n the greens not being in the best shape, it was a hard game, with a bad score, not good

Nice free flowing course
Visited after staying locally for the week. Excellent value for money paying ?20 for round and bacon roll and coffee. The course is very well laid out and runs smoothly. However the tee boxes and greens were in very poor condition. Very hard to read putts as the ball bobbled all over the place. Back 9 greens were a little better. Fairways were excellent and well kept. Would definitely play again for this bargain price.
