Llanymynech Golf Club, Shropshire is an 18 hole, par 70 (6036 yard), private, parkland golf course established in 1933. Home of Ian Woosnam, Llanymynech Golf Club is World Famous for playing two different countries on 1 hole! Yes that's right on our famous 4th hole you tee it up in Wales and putt out in England and only measuring 340 yards off the back tees this par 4 is not as easy as it seems...

What the club says: Founded in 1933, Llanymynech Golf Club has expanded over the years from its original 9 holes to its present day 18 hole layout. The course boasts a unique claim to fame in that you can play one round of golf in two separate countries on the 4th hole you tee of in Wales and putt out in England. The 5th and 6th holes remain in England before you are cordially welcomed back into Wales on the 7th tee. Offa's Dyke also passes through the Golf Course.
'The Hill' as it is known locally, is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and was once the battle ground for Caracatus in AD 50 in his quest to rid the country of the Romans. The club is pleased to say that a much more gentle battle takes place on the hill these days in the form of a battle of wits between golfer and ball.

Gorgeous Course
There's a trickly narrow, hilly lane to actually get to/from the course, but once you're there you won't be disappointed with what's on offer. The course has some wonderful holes, gorgeous views (cameras at the ready for when you get to the 12th tee), and in particular the back nine has some very intimidating tee shots. There are lots of tree lined fairways, and I also don't remember any especially easy par 3's. Be prepared to do some climbing though, as the course certainly isn't close to flat. It is worth the effort though.
It seemed a little weird using the driving range as part of the 18th fairway, but it's a small range so maybe it doesn't get used much.
Overall, I can't speak highly enough about the course.

Mr Grumpy
An excellent course, but cripplingly over subscribed & far too welcoming to all and sundry. Expect a long round; or if a member (as I am) resigned to 18 holes after 5 in the afternoon or before 8 in the morning. HmmmReviewer Rating
