Pleasant Challenge in Leicestershire

Played Kirby Muxloe on a Thursday, booked through the club website where there is a deal for a round of golf plus a meal in the 19th for ?30. Hidden away in the village the course is in really pleasant surroundings, with a spacious car park. Staff in the pro shop were very welcoming and booked us in and gave any required instructions. This club has some of the best locker rooms i have seen in the county. The course was in very good condition considering the amount of rain experienced recently. The greens were quick and true, fairways and tee boxes playing well. The fairways were quite generous and with the first cut not being over challenging there is an opportunity to get a good score here. The first 4 holes encounter the only elevation on the course after which there is little movement off the level. The 4th hole is a strong hole (400 yd par 4) with a ditch running before the green so be aware if you have not played here before. The 5th is a par 4 (271yds) where the tee box is situated in a farmers field and you have to drive through a narrow gap in the trees. The back nine brings the brook into play that crosses a number of holes although not always in play. The key holes on the back 9 are the 17th and 18th that bring the water into play. Overall the playing experience was excellent. Our food in the 19th consisted of Gammon and Chips, the club house is very smart with a comfortable atmosphere, unfortunately the food was the only let down on the day with over cooked chips spoiling the meal. Overall a good day out at this golf course, would i visit again, Yes if this deal still existed - would i pay the ?50 visitors fee? probably not quite value for money at this rate.

Best course

Played with society... never seen so many grounds people out on a course like it was here... prices were the best.. 2x drinks and ice cream £2.60.. others take note this is what should be charged.. club house exceptional.. staff brillant... course outstanding.. difficult but outstanding.. can not fault this place.. would join if it wasnt so far away..

Excellent course, some really interesting features. Good use of water. Lovely looking parkland course. Well worth the ride out will be back.

Old fashioned gem of a course

A very welcoming venue for Societies. Course although wet played well. Greens were excellent. A few tight driving holes but made the challenge a little more to think about. Staff also were very friendly. Overall an enjoyable visit. Will definitely return again.

Excellent condition and lovely course set not far from Leicester City. Fairly short, but don't be complacent as anything off the fairway proves hard to find.
