Played the weekend, greens very wet Bunkers had no drainage, Wasn't very welcoming,

Greens are almost championship standard in terms of looks and cut but the rest of the course is very poor. Fairways go from being scalped to a first cut in which you can often lose your ball and I've been in better rough than some of the tees

Parkland course in great condition
Played as part of a small society awayday. Check-in was courteous but with little interest shown in us being there. No 'Welcome to Kirby' or 'Have you played here before?' or 'Enjoy your round'.We paid a reasonable ?30 each for coffee, bacon roll cob and 18 holes, but even so we expected better than a dish of Nescafe granules, a flask of hot water and cold, underdone bacon.
The course was in excellent condition with some of the best greens I've putted on all year. A good mixture of holes with some long par 4s and challenging par 3s. The par 5 17th and the short par 3 18th are two great finishing holes over water.
The members we encountered seemed rather grumpy.
All in all a good experience on a very nice golf course at a fair price price with just a few things to take the edge off the day.

Kirby is a fairly tight tree lined parkland course which requires every shot and club in the bag, punishing rough if you're offline and usually trees to negotiate one way or another if you then wish to go for the green, requires good course management as well as the driver is not the automatic club of choice on the par 4 tees, and the 17 with water to carry on the 2nd shot,if you're long enough, goes into a green that is really designed to be approached by a wedge but can hold a longer iron or a high rescue club if you get it right, some good oportunities for risk or reward shots with good greens that are readable but tricky. I like it it's a good challenge, would highly recommend it but would advise getting local info on some tees for the right line as well.

Nice course in great condition
Nice course in great condition given the amount of rain we had. Greens were fast and in good condition. Course playing long due to soft conditions. Very enjoyable and will play again soon hopefully.Reviewer Rating
