NOT ALL THAT!
Played with a member recently. They were embarrassed at the state of the greens. At least 3 have been ruined by chemical spillage and will have to be replaced. Overall, an ordinary course, which without the great greens described in other reviews, is not worth visiting. No food in the clubhouse and very tired overall, both course (paths, tees and fairways) and clubhouse. Didn't play all the holes because pace was slow. Looks like they let anybody on, which is understandable only charging a tenner. It costs more to play a municipal - they must realise its "not all that"! Try Worsley or Swinton first at least they have 18 decent greens. The "330 yard" driving range is about 10 yards wide with 10 inch high grass, lol.Reviewer Rating

I was a member here a few years ago and fell out with the club due to the continued closure of holes. The greens are the best around however the condition of the rest of the course is not worth the expensive membership.A visitor price that does not warrant due to the condition many better and cheaper in the area.

Course suffers terribly in any duration of rain and as such can be a struggle to play - that\'s if its open - tried and failed a few times to play after rain and always ended up going to another nearby course instead. There are some interesting holes like the 4th and 9th, and also some uninteresting holes, like the stretch of 11/12/13/14/15th. Not a particular warm welcome from the young assistant pro, but nothing to put me off returning. Told off by members for using the wrong tee box - but the winter mat wasn't visible from the path and there were no tee markers anywhere. A few signs for visitors would help. Found out on arrival fairway mats were in use. I had one in my bag, my partner didn't, the shop was open but no staff around to buy one from by the time we realized we needed it (whilst on the first tee). Would return in Summer.

Pleasant course, only two temporary greens so greenkeepers had done a great job. Had to use mats or move to edge, which was fine, although the fairways were in good nick anyway.

Nice Course
weather was good but not knowing course, found the ditch that runs across several holes very distracting. Blind shot to a green towards end of course. Difficult to keep ball on green as it drops down ALOT!!! Final par three gets you worrying about clubhouse window.(Round played: Apr 2019 - Score: 85 Handicap: 9.8)

the wet weather is starting to take its toll on the fairways and greens. but as a muni its still a fair condition for the time of year. a good challenge for golfers of every level.

The course was nicely set up as you would expect at this time of year. Very welcoming club. Course is quite tricky with a gully running through approximately 10 holes and so knowledge of the course is invaluable. Overall a good course but difficult for high handicappers like myself

Ellesmere GC Walkden
A very nice club with the course in excellent condition.Was supposed to have played here a few year ago but the snobbery of the members was unbelievable. I had been doing some work at a friends and had turned up, (with a change of clothes to play in in the car) in a pair of clean presentable, canvas shorts and a polo shirt. As I walked across the carpark to meet my brother I was accosted by a member who shouted at me that I wasn't allowed on the course and that they had a dress code. Before I had chance to say anything he again shouted that my dress wasn't suitable and he told me to go to a municipal who might accept how I was dressed. I told him that I had a change of clothing in the car and was told they had a dress code and I didn't meet it. I then told him he'd just cost the club two rounds of golf that day and two memberships as we'd been planning to join. He just huffed and puffed then stomped off.
Thankfully the members on this visit were a lot more friendly and accommodating.

Aintree Hospital Golf Society
Played this course on the 4th of June. Very surprised after reading some reviews. This course is a great little set up. Some really good holes and views. Greens were in very good condition, well done green staff. Lot of trees so fairways a must, then it gives you a good chance to score well. From the shop, very helpful and the women behind the bar very friendly. Weekend Green Fees very reasonable. Will definitely be back here again ????Reviewer Rating

Former member here and they have done quite a lot of improvements, greens are in tremendous condition. Contemplating joining again next year done think it is good value for money at the moment but worth a round or 2

great course 15 mins from Manchester city centre
Course with streams running across many holes and depends upon you tee shot as to whether you lay up or go for green. Plenty of trouble to get in if your not on fairway. Excellent greens even for this poor weather.Reviewer Rating

Lovely course, although the ground was quite wet when we played, some of the tees were on mats. Greens very fast. Ditch runs through the course making it a real risk and reward course.

A warm welcome from pro and catering staff.the course was in great nik. fast greens in great condition.and has some stand out holes.unfortunately ..large society in front. This can happen.so no blame.it just became a long round and the only down side some greens are near touching distance to some t boxes..so just be aware..as it does add time to your round
..waiting ..my advice is go midweek..because it's a good course with good variety of holes it will test your game

Recently played here in an Open competition.Nice clubhouse & friendly members too.
This course has a combination of long par 4s,5s with some tricky par 3s.Got to say despite all of the gadgets we all under clubbed the "Rock" !
Fairways were lush & greens excellent providing you could read them correctly.
A couple of criticisms would be the club rule to "wave on" the following group on par 3s.This seemed unnecessary & bunched groups up due to there being 5 holes.I never like aiming at a green with people at the green.
Second issue is a combination of cross-over holes.As we came off 15 there was a group waiting on 16,a group on the 4th green (oddly they take priority)which is in the middle of the 16th driving area.Then we waited for it all to fill up again,spoiled it at this late stage in the round,reckon we stopped for 25 mins.Not sure what the answer is but it needs looking at!
