What the club says: An 18 hole, mature parkland course designed by Harry Vardon in 1911 and measures 6041 yards. The course is located amongst in 100 acres of the beautiful Derwent Valley on the county border between Durham and Northumberland. The course offers an enjoyable experience for all ages and golfing abilities.

The course was in excellent condition, the members and staff we met were very friendly and welcoming.

Played consett yesterday the weather was poor so didnt help. I got a discount through groupon so easily good value. But for my group thats where it ended. Club pro had a slight attitude on arrival and not very helpful. Course was a strange layout with several par 3s and par 5s in a row and very hilly in places. Although its local to my group we all said we wouldn't return. On a good side bar staff were very polite and helpful.Course (layout/challlenge)

Overall a very friendly course that's great value at a tenner a person.

Wasn't expecting much but got a pleasant surprise with the condition of the course.
Quite a hilly course but we hired a buggy so no problem there, but for end of October it played well.
Greens super condition and guy in pro shop very friendly so well worth a second visit.

The course primarily runs across a valley so the ball is either above or below your feet until the 7th when you drive down the valley (if you're lucky) and there is a huge drop in elevation until about the 14th. You are then faced with the appropriate heartbreak hill (its worse than it sounds!!). Once its out of the way there are 3 lovely finishing holes (if you get your breath back).
Very friendly clubhouse and the best toastie I've had in years!!
