Unwelcoming old tired

This place is not very welcoming, over rated, looks under funded, food is awful ,unfriendly, greens are not all that after being told they were brilliant , average, bunkering awful , lack of investment, clubhouse is a rabbitt hutch with older members taking 5 hours a round slow, holding it up.Overall no no and once again no.Overpriced for a glorified football pitch / cowfield.

Probably too late in the season

Unfortunately I think we played Chestfield a few weeks too late; the recent rain making the course a tad sticky and the greens slow and bumpy.

Deceptive course - shame about greens

At just under 5.9K yards should play easy but after the 1st the course gets a little hilly and tougher, definitely on the greens which were indifferent speed wise and very bobbly. Rough was fairly penal but had been cut recently. Would have been really tricky if played here a couple of weeks back! Society highest was 37pts from a 28 h'cap. So it can be done!!

I was a member here as a junior and returned after 12 years for a round with 2 friends. Course is generally good value for money (£15 in Winter past 12pm) and very dry despite recent heavy rain. Greens very variable in pace. Most par 3's off temporary mats. As was the case when I was a junior member, the clubhouse is very stuffy and unwelcoming. My friend was rudely told by a member that he couldn't drink his drink out of the bottle which made us chuckle. It's no surprise that golf clubs are struggling when visitors aren't greeted with open arms. My suggestion would be to avoid the clubhouse and go to Chestfield Barn next door instead for a much better atmosphere. Good course though...

No food at the clubhouse and greens recently been hollow-tyned meaning greens were rubbish.
