Unforgiving

Not suited to high handicappers. Anything outside the semi rough - gone. Unlikely to find ball. No space behind greens straight into deep trouble.
Trees need cut back to allow shots from tee- particularly the 8th.
Par 5s require prior knowledge no room for error.
I play off 8 and lost 4 balls- maybe I did not play well but it was brutal.

Booked in at hotel reception. Given paper bag tag and scorecard. No information on course given.
Fairways good, majority of greens in very poor condition. Walk between several tees long and over uneven ground. 15th hole makes up for some of the disappointing greens.
No facilities for visitors changing etc.

Great course

Stayed 2 nights in the hotel which was first class with the staff and amenities excellent and the food really good.

The course was in really good condition apart from 3 or 4 greens that had a little disease on a couple of places but the greens were true and firm. The fairways and light rough were excellent and consistent. The only problem are the par 5s. At 379 yards the first is long but the last two are extremely difficult to work out with an amateur golfer having to plot a strange way round the bends, fairways and lake/ ponds.

Overall the course is well worth a visit and as it's mainly restricted to hotel guests, visitors are welcome, it's not a busy course.

A great place to play go,f.

Beautiful tucked away course

Absolute joy to play 9 holes and I only wish that I could of completed the back 9. Lovely staff, amazing 18th century hotel and the course is well maintained.

Testing beautiful course

This is a lovely course well laid out. However the 13th is extremely challenging and few players can score on it, The hotel is grand and beautiful and it all makes for a worderfull weekend.

if you stay in the hotel it's worth getting out for a game, but it's kind of a basic course (ie straight up and down over all) and not so well kept in some places (the greens in particular)
