What the club says: The Burstead Golf Club was designed by the late Patrick Tallack in September 1991. It was laid to seed in the spring of '92 and opened for play in July 1993. Although relatively new, the course already shows maturity beyond its years, with the greens in particular establishing an excellent reputation.

Gem
Always love coming to this course, seems to get better every time we come here, from tee boxes to greens all excellent, credit to green staff especially after our dry summer, interesting holes & flat for my aging bones but still a good test. Clubhouse, food, staff all great, members very friendly. This is one of a few clubs will consider joining when I retire.Reviewer Rating

2nd visit to The Burstead - lovely Bacon Roll on arrival and excellent 2 course supper in the late afternoon. Golf course in great condition, providing a sensible test for a variety of handicaps. A little gem in the Essex countryside, well recommended.Reviewer Rating

Nice course, well kept
Not overly long track but tight on places, Burstead is a good test. Fairly flat so very walkable, greens were good and as were course conditions. Nice variation of holes, would definitely play again. Small driving range but adequate for a warm up, good short game area too.Reviewer Rating

Played Burstead Golf Club on 7th May 2025 ? course was in excellent condition! Played with a couple of guys that were getting back in to golf after a long time out, and they found the course challenging enough whilst not putting them off coming again. Greens a bit dry due to the weather, but still rolled well. Highly recommend this place ? great day out! ??????????

Its quite tight and tricky course with narrow ish fairways and slow dog legs and long par 3?s so be on your game

Has played fantastically this year
Challenging course 9, 11, 12, 17 & 18 the standout toughest holes. Tight course for the Driver, but plenty of opportunities to score too. Tee boxes need a bit of work.Reviewer Rating

Great little course
The course is really good and I?d encourage you to play it.Greens in good condition. Great layout to the course with some very challenging holes but it does make you think about your course management.
Some tee boxes were a bit Sandy and a bit beaten up. Some bum meds lacked sand. Fairways were a bit long at times.
practice facilities- range doesn't allow driver. one of the two nets are quite worn. Chipping part of practice area doesn't give much insight as the grass is overgrown. Putting green is in a great condition.

Welcoming, well maintained and well worth a visit
The Burstead's green keepers work hard to produce well kept fairways without too many muddy areas, surrounded by fairways that are challenging without being so difficult as to spoil your round. The greens are approaching superb, especially for this time of year.Reviewer Rating

Early afternoon tee time, cost ?25 which I thought was a bit over priced. Grass on the fairways was a bit long, needed cutting. Roll just off the fairway and there?s a chance of losing your ball, found a lot of other peoples balls, grass in the tee boxes to long. Greens where good.

The Burstead Club
Played during hot spell so the ground was very hard. The greens were immaculate but the grass on the greens was long and slow to rightfully protect them from the sun.Great practice facilities and the clubhouse was good with friendly staff.
