What The Club Says

Manor Course - Set amidst the beautiful New Forest in landscaped parkland of mature specimen trees and hardwood plantations, the Manor Course at Bramshaw Golf Club was opened in 1972. With gently undulating fairways that demand accurate tee shots, and greens are relatively small by modern day standards, the Manor Course is an excellent test of golf: there really isn't an easy hole on the Course. It is undoubtedly one of the finest and most picturesque courses in the south of England.

The Forest Course is the oldest in Hampshire dating back to around 1865. With its open aspects and rolling heathland, it is in complete contrast to its younger sibling, the Manor Course. The ever-changing scenery of humps, hollows and meandering streams test golfing skills and judgement within an idyllic setting. The prospect of a deer emerging from the trees or a mare chivvying her foal across the fairway gives the Forest Course a special and unique appeal. The roaming ponies and cattle add to the charm of the course, and many prefer to play the Forest Course for its beauty and old-fashioned test of golfing skills. Under special protection as an SSSI site, the fairways are only permitted to be cut twice per year, but the constant grazing always provides excellent playing surfaces.. if you can excuse the odd hoof print. Golf on the Forest Course has not changed in over 100 years, and neither should it.

Lovely course.

First time here. Great value, some lovely holes and greens were in great condition. Round let down by tees in poor condition, maybe markers due to be moved but difficult to set yourself well with so much damage. Incredibly slow play by groups ahead, late arrivals were still allowed to tee off which made things even worse.

Love this old course

It’s gorgeous, horses, cows, deer and the natural New Forest and its streams all around. Sometimes the greens can be a bit torn from animals
And the fairways a bit thin but it is my favourite and stunning course.

New Forest Course

A tricky course set in the New Forest, amazing scenery and at one point fallow deer to avoid. Good clubhouse and pro shop with friendly staff.

Be very careful if visiting this course the management have said they want to be a top 100 course “the best in Hampshire” but the reality is they are making a mess of a once great course and members are leaving due to unforfilled promises

The course was offering 50% off green fees online seemingly throughout August in light of maintenance work on the greens but, while the work was obvious and the greens weren't great, this didn't massively affect things so £17.50 for an early afternoon round represented excellent value.
I've played it before and it's a very nice course but it does struggle a bit with drainage (the starter forewarned that there are two huge new ditches on 6 and 16 since my last visit which hopefully will improve things a lot in the winter) and there were still a few places on the fairways that were a bit boggy, which isn't great for the height of summer! I suppose it has been rather wet of late...

Only three groups in the vicinity on the course so it was very quiet and we were round in 3h30 so a good pace of play.

And a special mention for the friendliest bartender you'll ever meet in the clubhouse bar afterwards - tell him you're a Spurs fan and you may get a 100% discount!

For those who haven't played before, there are 3 or 4 short par 4s, one of which is definitely driveable - the 12th. The tee is very close to the clubhouse, practice green etc so have a go at it and take the plaudits if you get on in one!

Forest better than the Manor

Played both courses for the first time after a very wet spell of weather. Once we had found our way to the Forest course (pro shop was no help here) we loved the experience of playing it and were pleasantly surprised at the good condition of the greens and fairways although two of the holes were closed. Just don’t expect to have perfect conditions and enjoy the surroundings. However playing on the Manor course was a different story. The ‘fairways’ were indistinguishable from the rough as they were at least 4 inches long everywhere. In fact we lost two balls in the middle of the fairway as they were hidden in the long grass. We were told they were letting the fairways grow a bit in preparation for the summer. It had been wet. Ok but don’t then charge a Green fee of £75. We felt a bit ripped off. Would happily play both courses in the summer but felt the club wasn’t particularly welcoming to visitors.
