Reviewed Jul 8 2013

Played Askernish in 2011 so things may have changed since then but at that time my overall impression was of a really good fun golf course that was more than worth the trip.

Playing on the Saturday morning that the Scottish open got rained off at Castle Stuart i played in glorious sunshie for the most part and had the course pretty much to myself.

The holes all feel very natural, not desgined at all, and therefore they flow very nicely from start to finish. The course was not manicured, i believe that this is deliberate to give the course a more traditional feel. The greens, therefore are a little rough, but this does nothing to take away from the enjoyment whatsoever. Some of the bunkering is truly spectacular, although as these are natural bunkers a few of them pop up in very unusual locations.\\The rough was not too rough, but due to the wild flowers growing in the machair at the time i played it was almost impossible to locate a white ball amount all the white flowers!\\The clubhouse is pretty basic but more than fit for purpose and very welcoming after my early morning round.\\\\
