What the club says: Alresford is one of only 30 downland courses in the whole of England . Distinguished by fast-running, undulating fairways, firm greens and wonderful vistas across the surrounding countryside, it is an easy walking course suitable for all ages and one of the oldest and prettiest places to play in Hampshire. It is unique in that it is lush in the summer and enjoys outstanding natural drainage in the winter ensuring that bad weather does not spoil your golf with mud and poor conditions underfoot. Always well presented , the layout is a challenging test for both amateurs and professionals, this course has hosted all the major county amateur and professional competitions in recent years.

FIGS Golf Society

Had a fantastic day at Alresford GC. Started with the largest Full English Breakfast which was excellent followed by 18 holes of golf. The course was in excellent condition and very well presented. Considering the lack of rainfall and the cold winds. The greens were fast and fairways had good grass coverage .
Only one small thing a bit more signage as to layout of the holes on the tees. And as to the route to the next hole.
But all in all a brilliant day out . Thanks to Jamie and Simon (Course Manager)

Terrific venue for golf societies

A match between the Royal Navy and Royal Artillery golf societies was played at Alresford GC for the first time. The course was in really good condition despite the lack of rainfall and proved to be a fair yet challenging test for all levels of player. Chipping, putting and range facilities are all located close to the first tee. The Club’s Staff were extremely welcoming and helpful both in the build up to the event and on the day itself and the Club House is a perfect setting for a drink and fabulous meal after the match. The day was a huge success and we have already booked to return again next year.

Tylney Park GC Away Day

We held our Seniors Captain's away day at Alresford GC on the 14th April 2025. It was a great experience. Great assistance from Jamie Batts the Golf Ops. Assistant. Wonderful food from Alresford Kitchens the caterers and the course was in great condition. All of our members thoroughly enjoyed the course and the day.

Excellent Society Day

Very accommodating staff and excellent service. We had a great day with sunny weather and no rain. There is a good choice of food, which was excellent and well presented. Good choice of beers at the bar at reasonable prices. We will return again next year.

Rough Diamonds Society Day

From the minute we arrived we were made to feel like part of the Club.
The welcome from the organiser and the fact that we had our own starter was a real treat.
The course was in excellent condition, shame the golf didn't match it.
The food after the round was a joy to eat, compliments to the chef!
Overall an excellent day, I look forward to taking us back again.

First time visit for our Society and the whole set up looked very impressive on arrival. After finishing our coffee and very tasty bacon rolls, we moved onto the putting green and driving range, both in great condition. The course proved to be quite challenging but was totally enjoyed by our group of mixed handicap players, as was hole 19. Overall, the service was first class and we will be reserving a slot for another visit next year, Thank you to Jamie and all the very helpful staff

Having choosing to play Alresford for our 1st society day of the season knowing it was on chalk, it was still amazing to see the course in such a
great condition after the winter we`ve just had. We were well looked after by all the staff and finished off the day with a lovely chicken curry. Found the members very friendly and happy to chat. The starting marshal Ray was very helpful and gave us plenty of advise about the course.

Excellent venue and challenge

Played on a dry, nice day. Course was in good nick despite recent rain. Grass tees clearly well-maintained after winter, fairways in good order, greens very fast and require a steady short game. Very enjoyable visit and good value too.

This is a course that regularly gets plaudits from top 100 golf course lists, and it's easy to see why. The setting is scenic, it has all the practise facilities you could ask for, and the course itself is the star of the show. The greens had recently been treated, but didn't look too far away from being excellent again. The tees were good, and the fairways were just about holding up to the pressures of the summer heatwave we've been going through.

There are lots of nicely shaped holes, and a good mix of short and long par 4's. It's also pretty friendly from the tee, so can be played by all levels of handicap.

Add in the excellent clubhouse and friendly members (the ones I spoke to were anyway), and you've ticked all of the boxes. Highly recommended.
