a bit up one side down the other, holes are fairly long but straight and not much adventure, thins and thick hits can be caught up with a good follow up shot, not a punishing course, no water and thin woods , little chance of losing balls, fairways are long and wide, a very forgiving course, greens are good but easily read. anyone with a handicap lower than 20 really should play the hotel course instead of cromwell. 15 quid a round is a good deal though and tee times are always available in winter. the real bonus with this course is that it is higher up and does not flood !

Considering how wet it's been course played well, but there is a lot of standing water on some fairways.

Very well laid out golf course.As mentioned below, the 1st hole Par 3 225 yards is a very tough start.
There are some very long par 4;s (One is in fact shorter than one of the par 5's!)
I really liked the fact that you get pretty much a different test on each hole, never 2 holes the same.
Some approach shots are simply stunning to look at as well.
Green were a little long but we had had lots of rain so probably expected. Even though they were long they still were ok. Probably near on perfect in the height of summer.
There are water features on a number of holes that just add to the already great course.
Very welcoming in the pro shop and club house too.

Abbotsley course quite tough, but in good condition. Must keep it straight and be able to make a few reasonable carries. Very enjoyable day and staff cannot be faulted.

This may be a little harsh after the severe weather, but many of the bunkers were full to the top with water and really need pumping out.

This is a course I always enjoy playing. Very quiet, way out in the countryside. Good variety of holes. This was the first time I had played it since they altered the order of play - the first hole you play is a LONG par 3 (225yards even off the yellows), which used to be the start of the back nine. This also means that stroke index 1 arrives very early in the round at hole 3. I think I preferred the course the other way round!
Biggest problem I had this time was the bunkers, which are in need of some serious work - very little sand in them, and any rain washes the small amount of sand to a low point, leaving a muddy hole to play out of.

Awesome greens, very clean and tidy, great staff, challenging course and makes you think of your next shot. As said greens were excellent extrmley well maintained and fast but great fun to play.

Friendly staff testing course could have some improved signage. Wefound the course very wet due to the recent rainfall but open for buisness as the day went on the greens dried out enjoyed a challenging game
