Played this course in 31degrees heat - in October - what a superb course, was in great condition swell. Really good course, fairways quite wide but still very enjoyable.

Very enjoyable course to play. Greens had been hollow-tined the week before so greens were a bit hairy and covered in sand. Didn't spoil the enjoyment though and definitely a course I would play again. Like all the Nicklaus designed courses in the area, difficult to fault. Service in the adjoining hotel bar/restaurant not good. We sat for 15 minutes and the waiter didn't come near. We got up and left and had a meal and drinks at Route 66 out on the boulevard.

Good course but very open and not a real challenge, i play off 10 and didnt play great but still managed to get it around without trouble due to the very wide fairways and no real hazards unless you are wild.
In the area we played the following courses and graded them in the following order:

1. Saurines le torre
2. El Valle
3. Alhama
4. Hacienda Riquelme
5. Mar Menor

I have played here 8 times now and I never fail to play my best golf around this track. It is tight, particularly holes 1-5 as there is very real threat that if you're too wayward off the tee you could land your ball in someone's villa or pool, and that's OOB not a water hazard!
The first nine also boasts a 200 yard par 3 (hole 8 SI3)that's slightly up hill. The less trouble some holes on the front nine are 6 and 7 which are back to back par 5s that play side by side but in opposite directions. Both may be reachable in two on a still day but given some wind one will play longer. The back nine is a little more open up until the 18th. Holes 13-15 around the lake are particularly pleasant. The lake can come into play if you let it but should largely just be for effect. The real trouble on this course is the bunkering which is not excessive but always seems to be in the right place to capture you ball. 15 is a short par 4 but SI2, the issue is club selection and placement to avoid sand rather than the lake. Contouring around bunkers and greens provide the occasional mound, run off area or raised green to challenge. The greens themselves provide a true roll but rarely a simple read. Sadly it is evident that visitors are not repairing their pitch marks, a problem made more damaging by the climate. Even so, and all things considered the course is kept in excellent condition by the grounds staff.
If you get a chance to make up a group with any of the local society they are exceptionally friendly and really make you welcome - in fact, I wish I could move out there just to join.

Played these three courses in early Feb 2012. Sunny but abit chillier than expected with a cold wind.

Condada - great course, each hole a challenge with either water or sand. Greens quick and true, fairways in good nick - recommend! Infrastructure terrible. Pro shop about 1/2 mile from 1st tee, could only buy course planner from the supermarket! No clubhouse so could not have a beer or shower.

Mar Menor - thought previous reviews about being a round of 2 halves were a bit harsh. Course maintained really well, liked the new holes 13 to 15 around the lake.
Good clubhouse for beers afterwards. No course plans available to buy which was a bit frustrating.

El Valle - greens were very fast, but had to be accurate otherwise you just ran off the green (green keeper obviously was in a mood as some of the placements were incredibly tricky. Very picturesque amongst the various ravines with the landscaping adding to the experience. excellent condition, good clubhouse but no course planner (again). Would recommend as a good challenge after the first few holes which were by far the only boring holes of the 18

This is my favourite course in the Costa Blanca area,
The challenge is to propel the ball over a series of gorges and ravines. The fourth hole is a particular challenge with the fairways at two levels and the green at the third level, each separated by a gorge. I have now learned to play this hole. The aim is to get a good drive then use a 4 iron or 5 wood into the second fairway which is at a lower level. The green can be approached with a wedge or 9 iron. The ninth poses a different challenge this a 296 meters par 4, dog leg to the left. The big hitter may try to hit over the water to reach the green in one or play safe using an iron to put the ball on the fairway and approach the green with a 7 iron. Considering the back 9 designed by Jack Nicklaus is only a year and a half old it is cracking. The front 9 is a Dave Thomas design and is 5-6 years old.

When the course has had a while longer to mature it will turn out great. There are a couple of holes where there is still some wasteland surrounding ( 6/7/8) from memory, they are still building properties around that section so it is to be expected. The back 9 is lovely and has a nice 3-4 holes around a lake which prove to be a challenge. There are a hell of a lot of sand traps all over the course which make it even more challenging.

The greens were quite sandy but I suppose as they are still fairly new this can be expected?

The fairways were in excellent condition and the general upkeep of the course was second to none. I can't wait to get back out there a play it again. The 18th is straight in front of the Intercontinental Hotel as makes a lovely finish.

This course plays fairly tight, as all 9 holes (due to be 18 by 2009) duely run through the back of the surrounding villas on the complex. The greens had just been spiked, which caused 1 or 2 difficulties at times.

The course has many fairway bunkers, that are generally quite long and flat. The greens on all 9 holes are very well protected by bunkers, so shot selection needs to be fairly accurate.

Green Bunkers generally have very soft sand, that makes playing out of them a bit easier. Whilst the fairway bunkers are a bit firmer, but allow you to get a good iron away for distance shots.

Booked the course through Club Murcia website - extremely good value green fees. Would certainly recommend this to any handicapper

Very disappointing

A very disappointing return to this venue after 9 years. The course was under refurbishment and only 8 out of the 18 holes were open with a 9th make shift making a twice round play mode the normal. The rest of the facilities were in good order. The clubhouse, shop, accommodation were all top notch. The course did let the trip down badly. The greens were slow, the tees and fairways looked worn and tired. A lot of work is required before a third trip is on the cards.

Standard sprawling Spanish golf course built around villas. Challenging enough while not being too tough for mid teen handicappers. Complex was okay. Bar substandard, particularly in service though some staff are trying atleast.
