Love this course but better customer provision needed

I have played teh Dorset Golf and Country Club a number of times. The main course, and there is clearly a main course made up of the lakeland and parkland nines, is outstanding. The woodland 9 is clearly the extra 9. I turned up on a Friday afternono looking for a quick 9 holes only to be told that, despite there being plenty of tee times, that the 9 hole rate was only on offer early in the morning or late in the afternoon. So I had to pay the 18 hole rate to play 9 holes on the woodland 9. The explanation I was given was that if a 9 hole were offered all the time the course would fill up with people only playing 9 holes, a completely ridiculous notion. While playing my 9 holes, I saw 3 other groups on the entire course. I'm disappointed by the inflexibility of the club. I will put people off.

Worth a visit

I've Played here quite often and even though the fairways were very muddy in places the course is always open. The greens are playing exceptionally good considering all the rain, still maintaining a nice speed. Great facilities and excellent helpful staff.

Abysmal Club

So these guys promote special rates to locals in the BH Postcode. Then they bombarde you you with offers, my wife and I played twice and it was OK, nothing spectacular. then we played a week ago 17.08.2025, 4 hours 25 minutes in and we gave up on hole 14 ( Lakeland- Parkland). Booked again to play today 25.05.2025. Realtor see that for the last four weeks even though we had given buggy key back to bar, no refund d of deposit had been made (£15.00). Complained but buy behind desk couldnt give a monkeys. Went out at 1pm today as a two ball, 3 hours to do 9 holes behind god knows how many four balls, e eventually after five hours gave up at hole 14 without completing, complained and the guy behind the counter just said it is what it is. This is a very mediocre course in the middle of nowhere seemingly run by people who couldnt give a toss if you have a good game, bad game or ever return. I would advise to steer well clear..
