Where to Stay on a Golf Trip to Costa de la Luz

The Costa de la Luz remains a relatively undiscovered part of southern Spain. Blessed with a temperate climate and more hours of sunshine per year than any other part of the mainland, it is fast becoming a haven for golfers and their families.

There is an impressive choice of hotels, catering for families, groups and couples. You will find everything from self-catering to small and intimate family-run hotels to luxurious five-star hotels, all catering for golfers. Most are located next to sandy beaches and many have golf courses on site.

Precise Resort El Rompido

Precise Resort El Rompido, which sits on the edge of a tidal lagoon overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, is a golf resort and spa that boasts a five star hotel along with two 18-hole golf courses, health spa, conference and leisure facilities including private beach club, football pitches, tennis and paddle courts and much more. It is owned by the Precise Hotel Collection Group, who have upgraded both the hotel and the courses. The rooms and suites in the hotel are all decorated and finished in a modern style all with full en-suite facilities and a large terrace or balcony. The view from each of the rooms is either over the El Rompido South golf course which extends down to the coast, or over the beautiful gardens and swimming pool.

Islantilla Golf Resort

Situated just 800 yards from the beach, this five-star resort is surrounded by the 27 holes of Islantilla Golf Club - the first tee is just 100 yards from the hotel. With a full range of room types available from standard double rooms to full suites and bungalows on the fairways of the golf course this hotel has an accommodation option to suit all tastes. A full range of spa and beauty treatments iare also available. The home of the 1996 Turespana Open, the golf course is the longest-established in the Huelva region of the Costa de la Luz. With three nine-hole loops, it has tight tree-lined fairways with small, fast greens, and calls for some challenging shots over water to
target greens. A full range of practice and club house facilities including a fully covered driving range, chipping/putting greens and practice bunkers are available.

Barcelo Montecastillo Golf and Sports Resort

Set within the Montecastillo Golf Course, the resort features two outdoor pools, a well-equipped spa centre and free WiFi as well as tennis courts and a fitness centre. The spa has a hydrotherapy circuit, sauna and a Turkish bath. The magnificent golf course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and is one of the most highly-rated in the area. Bring your dog with you and it will be provided with a small bed and welcome food bowls. The El Lagar restaurant offers international and Spanish cuisine, while the Ricardo's Bar serves snacks. There is a children's playground and separate children's swimming pool. The Jérez Formula One Race Track is a short drive away.

Hotel Nuevo Portil Golf

Set within the grounds of Nuevo Portil Golf Course, this colonial-style hotel is located 150 yards from a glorious sandy beach. It features a gym, sauna and Turkish bath and a restaurant on site.
