Kids introduced to golf by one of Scotland's leading professionals
Thirty children, many of whom had never previously played golf, received an introduction to the beautiful game from one of Scotland’s leading lady professionals, Alyson McKechin, last week.
The event, at Elderslie Golf Course, was aimed at youngsters between the ages of 6 and 11, who came from as far as Edinburgh to take part.

Alyson, who competes on the Ladies European Access Tour, was supported by Scott McGrenaghan, club professional at Elderslie. They helped the children try their hand at driving, chipping, pitching and putting.
Alyson, who is sponsored by luxury car marque Infiniti, said: “I learnt so much from my time as a junior at Elderslie Golf Club and this type of event provides me with an opportunity to meet and create some enthusiasm with the next generation of young golfers.
“It’s a chance for me to give something back to game which has provided me with so much enjoyment.”
The children’s experience was enhanced by the availability of revolutionary new golf clubs designed especially for them by local firm Golphinforkids.
Golphinforkids manufacture lightweight golf clubs for children using materials usually found in the wings of spacecraft and aircraft. The clubs have the full support of the R&A, who chose them exclusively at The Open championship Swingzone recently.
Managing Director Calum McPherson said: “Our clubs are designed to help youngsters have fun and enjoy the game. Supporting days like this is all about helping to grow participation levels in a fun way."
The event was organised by Glasgow-based McCrea Financial Services and Infiniti. Both are committed to supporting a whole range of sports through sponsorship.
McCraes Head of Marketing and Sponsorship, Elaine Hamilton, added: “This event aligns with our aims to support grassroots and development opportunities in sport.
“We are currently in partnership activity with Glasgow Warriors, Partick Thistle and Scottish Seniors Golf, while Infiniti work with Alyson and St Mirren.”
