Boost for Faldo Series in Germany
The fourth Faldo Series Germany Championship will return to the A-ROSA Scharmützelsee on July 30-31. Organisers are expecting a full field for the event which will carry German Youth Golf Ranking points for the first time.
“With German Youth Golf Ranking points on offer, this year’s championship is going to be our biggest and best yet,” said Sir Nick Faldo. “Last year’s winners performed very impressively at the Grand Final and it is possibly only a matter of time before we have our first German Champion.”
The six-time Major Champion added: “I am thankful to the A-ROSA Scharmützelsee and its partners, KSC, get goods and Sporting Club Berlin for supporting the Series again. I am very proud of our continued involvement with the Faldo Course there and look forward to another successful event.”

“We are very excited about the great interest in this year’s Faldo Series Germany Championship,” said Vanessa Herbon, Director of A-ROSA Golf & Sport. “We expect an excellent field of more than 100 talented young players from all over Germany and Europe and perhaps we will see a future Major Champion. It is really worthwhile being part of Sir Nick’s programme if you are a young player on your way to the top of the game.”
“Qualifying for the final is one of my main goals of the season,” commented Hurly Long, runner-up in the Boys’ Under-18 division at last year’s Grand Final. “It was an amazing experience so hopefully I can qualify again and give myself a chance to go one better.”
With German Youth Golf Ranking points on offer – plus five spots in the Faldo Series Grand Final – golfers aged 12 to 21 will have much to play for in the Faldo Series Germany Championship on the Faldo Course at Sporting Club Berlin on July 30-31.
Supported by The R&A, ISPS Handa and the European Tour, the 2013 Faldo Series Europe schedule features a record 20 tournaments in 15 countries including six in England plus others in Ireland, Abu Dhabi, Chile, the Czech Republic, Scotland, Austria, Wales, Brazil, Italy, The Netherlands, Germany, Slovakia, Greece and the United States.
Established in 1996, 40 Faldo Series tournaments now take place in 30 countries worldwide with more than 7,000 golfers participating each year. Past winners include Major Champions Rory McIlroy and Yani Tseng.
In September 2014, Faldo will begin taking students at a full-time residential academy for education and golf development in America. The first ever Faldo Series Academy in Casa Grande, Arizona marks another significant step in the programme’s history.
