Progen purchased by Direct Golf owner

By: | Fri 16 Nov 2012

John Andrew, Class AA PGA Professional and owner of Europe’s leading multi-channel golf retailer Direct Golf UK, has bought Progen and all its intellectual property.

The popular golf equipment brand from the late nineties and early 2000’s has been absent from the golf industry for some time, but is set for a complete makeover and re-launch early in 2013.

“I bought the brand and trademarks 18 months ago and since then have been working hard on the brand image, re-launch and getting the products right. We plan to launch the new-look brand for the start of the 2013 season” commented John.

Golf is changing and Progen is for a new generation of golfers.  Progen is the DNA of the new generation of golfers, where it’s not just about the equipment, but the attitude.

John went on to explain “We want to create something a bit different and launch a brand for the new breed of golfers out there. These golfers may not play competitively or be members of clubs, but take their golf seriously.  The Progen name lends itself to this perfectly and we are keen to bring to market a range of products with attitude.”

The edgy new-look Progen range will be launched in the Spring 2013 and feature three distinct ranges of products under the Chromo, Haema and Red Eye sub-brand names. The products will distributed by specialist golf distribution company, UK Golf Distribution, across Europe and will be available in the UK through Direct Golf UK.
