8 Players to Watch at The Chevron Championship 2025

There is another welcome taste of major championship golf to come this week as the first women's showpiece event of the season, The Chevron, gets underway from The Club at Carlton Woods in Texas.

World number one Nelly Korda defends her title and will understandably be among the favourites despite a relatively quiet start to the season - certainly in comparison to her extraordinary exploits of last year.

But who should you be keeping an eye on as the week unfolds? Here are some names that we are watching.

Jeeno Thitikul

She hasn't won on the LPGA Tour this season, but the world number two did secure a victory on the LET in Saudi Arabia, which was the highlight of what has been an extremely consistent campaign thus far. The 22-year-old from Thailand is yet to secure a major title in her career - but that will surely change soon, perhaps even this week.

It's hard to ignore the defending champion - despite a solid if unspectacular early months of the year by her standards. The two-time major winner finished third here in 2023 and won 12 months ago, meaning that her record at the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course is rather impressive to say the least.

Lydia Ko

Lydia Ko

We don't know how long the reigning AIG Women's Open champion will continue playing competitively, so we should enjoy the remarkable New Zealander while we can and a second victory in this event - albeit at a different venue - would be another highlight to cap what has been a stunning career.

Lilia Vu

Two years ago, Vu was the woman to beat, winning the first championship here and then claiming the Women's Open at Walton Heath. The American has struggled with injury since then, but when fit she is among the very best, as she proved with two runner-up finishes last summer at the Women's PGA and at St Andrews.

Minjee Lee

Younger brother Min Woo may have taken some headlines recently, but his two-time major winning big sister Minjee has shown encouraging form of late and could be a contender in the Lone Star State. The Australian hasn't won on tour since the 2023 season and it's about time that changed.

Charley Hull

Now 29, Hull enjoyed an impressive record at former venue Mission Hills in California, but has three runner-up finishes in major championships to her name, including two in 2023. We all know that she has the game to be both a contender and winner, but will that potential finally become a reality this week?

Lottie Woad

Another player with undoubted promise, the world number one amateur is part of the field too. Woad couldn't successfully defend her title at Augusta National a couple of weeks ago, but has shown that she can be competitive against the professionals, having finished in the top ten at St Andrews in August and in a tie for 23rd at last year's Chevron.

Angel Yin

The Solheim Cup star has won already this year on the LPGA Tour and returns to the venue where she agonisingly lost in a playoff to Lilia Vu in 2023. There may be unfinished business here for the American who could be the best hope for a home winner this weekend.
