LIV Golf Miami Team Championship Preview

By: | Mon 24 Oct 2022

THE LIV Golf season reaches its conclusion at Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami this week, with huge sums of money on offer once again.

The iconic Blue Monster course will stage the seeded three-day, knockout tournament featuring both match play and stroke play as LIV Golf’s 12 teams compete for a $50m purse.

Dustin Johnson has already secured the individual prize after an astonishingly consistent run of form, with one victory and a series of top-10 finishes.

The same cannot be said for LIV Golf’s marquee signing, Phil Mickelson, who has struggled all year.

However, Brooks Koepka will go into the tournament buoyed by his victory in Jeddah. The four-time major champion has been plagued by a series of injuries and says that he feels fully fit for the first time in two years.

The format for the final tournament is pretty confusing but one thing you cannot deny is that these people know how to put on a show.

The final tournament will feature Grammy Award-winning band The Chainsmokers, who will perform live on Sunday at the conclusion of the 2022 LIV Golf Team Championship.

A full weekend of headline live music entertainment will feature a performance by multi-Grammy award-winning superstar Nelly on Saturday following day two of the three-day competition.

As if that is not enough, Snoop Dog, the 17-time Grammy nominated hip-hop artist, will also be performing on Saturday. He has sold more than 35 million albums worldwide, with seven albums going platinum including 14 top 10 singles and three No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.

It’s golf Jim, but perhaps not as most of us know it!

The Course

Remastered by Gil Hanse in 2014, the famed Blue Monster at Trump National Doral is one of the most famous courses in America. Stretching over 7,600 yards, the course features a series of strategically placed deep bunkers, long flowing fairways, undulating greens, deep Bermuda rough and water hazards - all of which combine for a course that requires both length and finesse to score well. The famous 18th hole is traditionally ranked as one of the most difficult by touring professionals.
