#BirdieClub Reaches New Heights as Golfers Continue Score Tracking

By: Golfshake Editor | Fri 03 Sep 2021

For many golfers, the recent Bank Holiday was an ideal time to get out and play golf, which a considerable number clearly did, something that was reflected in a busy week for the Golfshake #BirdieClub.

During the past two weeks, the stats are up, with over 9,000 birdies being tracked in the ever popular Golfshake Score Tracker, not to mention the staggering 104,000 net birdies that all contributed towards qualifying entries into our prize draw for the chance to claim Callaway Chrome Soft and Odyssey Golf rewards.

Overall, 38% of the Golfshake Community tracked a round that included a birdie, which was a slight increase on the 37% seen during Weeks 2 and 3.

However, as noted in this feature article, fast starts are important to any golfer, which has certainly been evidenced during the #BirdieClub. 22% of rounds started with a net birdie, but even more impressively, seven golfers began their days with two birdies, while in Week 5, one very happy golfer started birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie!

During Week 4, one golfer kicked off their round with nine successive net birdies, while two golfers tracked six birdies in their rounds.

But that doesn't match the achievement of county golfer and Golfshake Ambassador, Ed Dimambro, who made a staggering eight birdies during his round in Week 5!

Ed reflected: "I have been hitting the ball well recently and did so at the Midland Open on the Friday/Saturday before. Last round in the event I missed seven putts from 4-6 feet and naturally the confidence was a tad low which carried over into that round which was a practice round for the Hudson Trophy this coming Sunday. I had missed my first three putts of the day in that range and was quite frustrated, shall we say. One of my playing partners Paul Maddy (former European Tour player) noticed a small issue with set up which he pointed out around the turn. I then drained putts from at least 20 foot on 11 and 12, hit it close on 13 and 14, then lipped out from 6 foot for birdie on 15. Almost five in a row! Putting demons popped up on 16 with my third three whack of the day. Hit it close again on 17 to make an easy birdie and then drove the last green and two putted for my 8th of the day.

"A perfect summary of the weird and wonderful game of golf!"
