By: Golf Shake | Wed 10 Feb 2010

Gtour Amateur Golf Events and Order of Merit TourThe Gtour Amateur Golf Events and Order of Merit Tour is back for 2010, bigger and better, with more sponsors, more venues and a new look website.  The Gtour provides a fun, social but competitive golf event aiming to bring the Professional Tour experience to the average Amateur golfer.

The first event takes place on Saturday 20th Feb at De Vere Belton Woods, which is still open for new golfers to join, and looks set to be a great event and start to the 2010 season.  As well as the usual Gtour goody bag all those who attend will also receive free Swing Reminder golf tips. Click here for more information and to register.

Gtour Amatuer Golf Events and Order of Merit Tour

The events are open to all regardless of handicap or club status. You can take part in one event to win some great prizes or compete in at least 3 events to be in with a chance of being crowned the Gtour 2010 champion, with some even greater prizes up for grabs including Tour exemption for 2011 and a whole lot more.

Tour Sponsors 2010 - Srixon join the Tour

The 2010 Gtour Amateur Golf Events and Order of Merit series is delighted to announce Srixon as Tour Sponsor for the 2010 events alongside the 2009 Sponsors of De Vere, Bunker Mentality, Golfbreaks.com and Teeofftimes.co.uk.

As well as the main tour sponsors, who support the individual events and overall Order of Merit, 2010 we will also be working closely with some other great partners to enhance the Gtour experience for those taking part and 2010 looks set to a fantastic year for everyone involved.

Gtour Tour Sponsors

Bunker Mentality’s Robert Hart said: “The Gtour was very successful in the first year proving that there are lots of keen golfers out there looking to play in regular, well organised events. The profile of the golfer is changing and this new mindset appeals to those playing on the Gtour. The team behind the Gtour are keen to grow  the game, recognising this change and want a sponsor that reflects this, which is why Bunker Mentality is a perfect fit.”

Amateur Golf Tour2010 Events - Taking place at a venue near you

2010 will include some of the popular stops on the 2009 tour including De Vere Oulton Hall , De Vere Slaley Hall in May plus this year the tour will visit De Vere Mottram Hall plus the first event in the South West at a Top 100 golf course at the the Manor House on Oct 15th.

For a full list of the 2010 Schedule and to join the tour and take part in any event visit the Gtour Tour Schedule, further dates and venues will be added over the next few weeks.

How does it Work, Why should Pros have all the fun ?

You can take part in one event to win some great prizes or compete in at least 3 events to be in with a chance of being crowned the Gtour 2010 champion, with some even greater prizes up for grabs including Tour exemption for 2011 and a whole lot more.

Individual events are based on the Stableford scoring system off 3/4 handicaps and are open to all abilities with a handicap restriction of 28 and 36 for men and women respectively.

The Order of Merit points system is based on a unique weighted points system, dependent on event and numbers playing and based on your event finishing position.  The overall season scoring is based on the accumulated points from your best 3 rounds.

For 2010, the Order of Merit will also be split into 2 tiers based on handicaps with Scratch to 14 and 15 and above. Run side by side the 2 tiers simply means that whether you are a avid beginner playing in the 20's or a wannabe tour pro playing off single figures at the end of the year you stand an equal chance of placing at the top of the Order of Merit. So as well as the overall Gtour Champion, based on their best 3 accumulated points, the top placed golfer from the other tier will also take a top spot for their tier.

Swing Reminders - Golf Tip tokens to use on course

And finally we are proud to say that news of the Gtour has reached the far flung shores of the USA! Our new friends at Swingreminders.com contacted us earlier this year to say they would love to get involved and have very kindly sent us a full set of their SwingReminder tokens for everybody who attends the Belton Woods events on the 20th of Feb. Swing Reminders is a simple system of hardwood tokens and accompanying tips booklet to help you focus on the aspects of the game you want to improve. Pick out a few reminders and put them in your pocket. When you reach for a tee, you will feel that smooth wooden token and it will instantly give you a good swing thought to focus on. When you get to the green, you can pull one out and use it for a ball marker! for full details on Swing Reminders check out their website at www.swingreminders.com but better than that come to Belton Woods and get your own set to keep.
