What the club says: Designed by William Mitchell from the USA and opened in 1974, the Quinta do Lago South course was used eight times for the “Portuguese Open Championship” in 1976, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990 and 2001. It has also hosted many large professional and amateur championships.
The favourite of many tour players, this course offers the possibility to hit the greens in regulation in several ways. However, each hole has one easy route and the player who sees this, and has the skill to follow the designer's intention, and produce sub-par figures. An anti-clockwise loop, it favours the draw shot.
This course favours the long hitter, but requires the player to pick a particular route to score well. Although both anti-clockwise loops, the first nine favours a draw, while the second favours a fade from the tee. Holes 3, 15 and 17 features lakes, which must be negotiated.

Lovely Course
Bias but of the three course at Quinta this is a favourite. Considering the amount of rounds played on this and it’s other courses it remains in good condition. Deceptive greens are just one of the problems you may face. Keep the ball on the short stuff and a good score may be your reward. Becoming expensive especially with a buggy.Reviewer Rating

Personally, I found the South Course to be the pick of the bunch, although I can easily entertain an argument for all three courses. There is such a selection of holes, nothing ever feels the same, and whether it's raised tees or greens, nasty fairway bunkers, devilishly sloping greens or tight tee shots, the variety on offer is simply outstanding.

Quinta South
This is a truly great golf course, and on the day we played, the greens were like lightening. Pretty much all the holes are challenging but fair, and I'd love to play here again. Only negative is the driving range. Too small and poor golf balls.Reviewer Rating

Iconic must play Algarve course and although it's pricey it is worth it for the whole experience. Always fabulous condition and the views are awesome. It does get busy though and be prepared for a long round

As a championship course in European tour, the course is easier than I expected. Not very long distance course, green is challenging but not hell difficult. The most challenging part is that the landscape is up and down a lot and for most of holes, you cannot see the whole fairways, so you have to play most of driving and we cone short blindly, which is really difficult if you play first time there, would be much easier after you get familiar with the course. I expected much nicer sea view from the course but in fact there is only one hole where you can see the sea although the view is amazing. A lot of fun to play due to the up and down fairways and greens, definitely will play again. Green fee is a little bit high especially not including the buggy.

Great Course
Would be happy if this was where I played all my golf. I have played it every year for the past 25 years, and look forward to it every time. Fairways not always in the bets condition, but the greens are a good speed and true, and all the holes are different.Reviewer Rating

Best Course In The Area
Given the extreme wet weather during December 2019 the course was the only one open in the area with playable tee boxes and greens in fact most courses in the area was closed which is a testament to the green staff at FarleighReviewer Rating
