What the club says: Set in the heart of the Ribble Valley Wilpshire Golf Club provides a challenge to all levels of golfer, in a tranquil and beautiful setting.

At 5,843 yards and par 69 (ladies 72), the course is not long by modern standards but it has a pair of excellent par 5's and five par 3's, none of which are that easy. The combination of parkland and moorland with the threat of challenging rough and a few water hazards can make a round interesting enough, especially for the player who is driving off-line. Our course was originally designed by James Braid, who took full advantage of the varied terrain - the first six holes use trees and greenside bunkers to catch the unwary.

Short but tough

Wonderful little course, not a long course but has tricky greens and blind tee shots...Good course management is vital. Amazing views across Lancashire on a clear day. Seems to play much tougher than the Par 69 suggests.

If you haven’t played this course it is well worth a visit. As for people marking it down low on the reviews...Most courses in Lancashire are wet and very boggy in the Winter months...What do you expect.

Golfshake need to update their info on this course as the distances and stroke index information you have is wrong on several holes.

Nice course, worth playing

Always enjoy playing Wilpshire, first time I've played it in a strong wind, this makes it a tough course to score on. Bit open to the elements so some holes become difficult but if your game if not going well you can still admire the great views the course offers. Course in great condition, green smooth and fairly quick. Great food in clubhouse.

Very nice

Not particularly long, but very nice. Doesn't overly punish you if off line, but you still need to play well round here. The course & especially the greens was in great condition. Some great views, some interesting holes, a lot of blind shots, definitely one to re-visit.

Hidden Gem

Considering the recent weather, the course was not as wet as expected. The greens had also just been ironed when we played, which made them fast but true. The welcome to the club was superb and the clubhouse is lovely.

The course plays longer than the yardage due to being on a hill and exposed to the wind. It certainly requires you to play well and the greens are known for being in good condition most years.

We were that impressed we are currently thinking of joining. The only small downside was the practice putting green is made from astro turf, but the greens are that fast it's not too far off for speed!

What a shambles. Course waterlogged from the outset and throughout. Played on my own and got stuck behind a three ball from the seventh, to which they refused to acknowledge my presence and let me play through. Certainly will not be playing there again. Nice views but they do not make a course better

When I played this course it must have been close to being closed because of the weather. The fairways were water logged with small rivers running down them. All fairways were being treated as ground under repair with players having to lift the ball and move it to the short rough to play it. Having said all that some of the holes looked good with great views. Most of the pars 3s were good holes with the 17th being the pick of the bunch. Having put I would not play it again maybe I would in better condition.
