What the club says: Set in the heart of the Ribble Valley Wilpshire Golf Club provides a challenge to all levels of golfer, in a tranquil and beautiful setting.

At 5,843 yards and par 69 (ladies 72), the course is not long by modern standards but it has a pair of excellent par 5's and five par 3's, none of which are that easy. The combination of parkland and moorland with the threat of challenging rough and a few water hazards can make a round interesting enough, especially for the player who is driving off-line. Our course was originally designed by James Braid, who took full advantage of the varied terrain - the first six holes use trees and greenside bunkers to catch the unwary.

What a shambles. Course waterlogged from the outset and throughout. Played on my own and got stuck behind a three ball from the seventh, to which they refused to acknowledge my presence and let me play through. Certainly will not be playing there again. Nice views but they do not make a course better

When I played this course it must have been close to being closed because of the weather. The fairways were water logged with small rivers running down them. All fairways were being treated as ground under repair with players having to lift the ball and move it to the short rough to play it. Having said all that some of the holes looked good with great views. Most of the pars 3s were good holes with the 17th being the pick of the bunch. Having put I would not play it again maybe I would in better condition.

Really enjoyed playing this course and the scenery was outstanding - great variance on the holes and some tricky little par three - will definately play here again

Great course got very lucky with the recent weather being so good. Very friendly welcome on arrival great car park facilities and club shop. Course played very long. Definitely a course that favours the straight hitter but still enjoyed the round. Greens were very quick but it was to be expected with the recent dry weather

Enjoyed playing in an Open Fourball during the club's 125th aniversary celebrations. Enjoyed the course, some challenging holes, good mix of holes with short par four to challenge the longer drivers and shortish par threes requiring accuracy. Great views over the Ribble Valley and out to the Fylde Coast. Enjoyed the hospitality of the members before and after the round and also a much needed drink from friendly staff in the halfway house available behind the ninth green!
A good day out. Try it!
