What The Club Says
Towneley Golf Club was established in 1932 and has been providing golf and clubhouse facilities successfully to the local area ever since. Featuring mature trees and some well placed ditches, this popular course provides a challenge to golfers at any skill level. Competitions are a regular attraction and tuition is available from the golf pro if you're looking to brush up your game.
Towneley is a municipal golf course located on the southern edge of Burnley within easy reach of the M65. It was originally established in 1932 as 9 hole layout, but was later expanded to the current 5834 yard, par 70 course. Set in mature parkland Towneley is a good test of golf despite its short length.

Well maintained course
Very well maintained course somewhat spoiled by poor players who don't replace diverts and or pitch marks but even though this didn't spoil thevroundsvI have played there it does get busy especially when the sun is out so becomes slow. Then on my last round there other players started cutting in on the hole I was playing which was very annoying then you had players behind who teed off even though we hadn't taken our 2nd shot balls bouncing at the sidevof us this type of player needs banning as its dangerous play, only for them to say the ball was no where near us literally 4 yards. But we didn't let that bother us I just said do it again and you'll lose your ball he took the hint.Reviewer Rating

Nice course worth playing
Having not played Towneley GC for a good few years thought we'd give it a go as heard nice things about it. Friendly welcome in pro shop, decent bistro above serving food. Practice net and putting green. Course a little wet after a couple of days of heavy rain but still in good condition. Greens rolled well. A few inclines to negotiate but nothing too strenuous. Worth playing for sure.Reviewer Rating

Decent course
Townley is a really decent course.I was expecting it to be a moorland course due to the area that its in, but it was a parkland course.
Irs in great condition. The greens are excellent & so are the bunkers.
Some won't like the criss crossing on a few of the holes on the back 9, but they didn't bother me.
As I said it's decent, I wouldn't play it ahead of Burnley, or Darwen, but I'd definitely play it again.
