What the club says: The Hampshire Golf Course is a well designed course with very few straight forward holes. Although not the most challenging, the frequent doglegs and strategically placed bunkers to catch your drives and approach shots all add up to make an interesting and tricky round.

Worth the money

The course is generally in good condition, bunkers in poor condition ,a lot of work required
But we were warned before the round to treat them as GUR ,also 2 greens had been damaged by animals but did not affect the flag positions .
Shame about the bar and food not available ,but could buy bottles from cooler

Having lived in Andover for 40 years and being a member at Leckford golf course i thought I would try out the Hampshire. Well what can I say about this place thier is major problem with lack of funding being spent out on the course. The greens especially the putting green seems to be suffering with a lot of brown patches and to be honest the majority of the greens seem to be damaged by patches, flags haven’t been moved as their is a lot of wear around the holes. One thing that has changed is the new signs around the course do look very smart and clearly direct you to the tees. Fairways do have alot of divots in places that could of been filled in but that’s just nit picking. Ruff around the banks of some of the greens is crying out for a cut EG 11th hole and the 5th. This could be thriving course but unfortunately I can see this place closing unless something dramatic changes. Can’t comment of the club house as never entered but was greeted by a gentleman outside the pro shop who seemed to not have any interest in helping us out. Pace of play was good but their was only about 6 cars in the car park.

Enjoyable Round

I was not sure what to expect given some of the reviews but had a thoroughly enjoyable round at The Hampshire. The course is in need of a bit of TLC in respect of the tees and bunkers. The fairways were lush and the greens running true and even paced. The views from the course are stunning. I shot a gross 78 playing of a 12 handicap so all in all a great day out and will have no hesitation in returning to play there again.

Went to play the academy course. The academy course is in a shocking state I’ve never seen a academy course like this.I cannot comment on the manor course but speaking to my friends who do play the manor have said it below average for this type of course I would not recommend this golf course to anyone let alone play this again.

Don’t be put off by the reviews

Really enjoyed our round here today. The staff were welcoming and conscientious, offering free cold, bottled water to all players as it was so hot. The course has the most fantastic views and some absolutely superb tee shot holes. The bunkers are all GUR because of covid (you can’t use shared rakes anywhere) so ignore all the gripes about them being unplayable as this is good diligence. The greens and teeboxes are fine. It’s not Augusta but they’re perfectly playable and by far not the worst I’ve seen. For the price they are charging it’s incredible value, and we’ll be back.

Course is run down they seem to have spent money in the wrong areas eg cover for the bar. The course is in massive need of a makeover, greens in poor condition, holes haven’t been moved for 2 weeks, tees are a mess, only good part to the round was the views especially from the 13th and the 4th. Speaking to a couple of the members to find out what’s happening let’s just say I think they need to rethink thier position here EG management.

Mr Harris

Don’t understand the below reviews. Played the course today paid for 18 holes tees are in average condition considering this time of year when their is a lot of growth. Some greens are okay but the 13th hole on top of the hill is very poor as-well as the 8th and 5th. Hired a buggy for our round and was told they had been sanitised but ours clearly had not as we watched it come in and was told that’s yours. Do the staff understand what has happened in the past year. Club house is average no beer on tap only bottled. This place does need a management change for this course to flourish as it could be a gem. I won’t return until I hear of some drastic changes.

Great atmosphere and such friendly and welcoming people at the clubhouse. The greens are some of the best kept I’ve seen in the UK. Will definitely be back for another round soon.

Awful!

I have played over 250 courses around the world and this was one of if the worst. A reception that was underwhelming. Toilets had no paper. Refreshments self served from a fridge.

Nearly every tee box was in terrible shape. Most bunkers hadn’t seen a rake for weeks. Some had weeds coming out of them. Several greens unplayable.

Overall a serious disappointment.

Nice course with big hill

Nice course, slightly let down by pitted tees and one or two patchy greens. Some Leatherjacket beetle damage, but not too noticeabale.
Disappointed that clubhouse cafe was closed.

Could be really good. Nice fairways and great views. Bunkers are all unplayable and should be GUR. Greens are 2/3 good and 1/3 unplayable. A bit of investment and would be excellent !!

When we arrived we were greeted by a rude gentleman who said sit in your car and don’t move basically treating us like school kids. Went to sign into the pro shop 10 minutes before our tee off very cold welcome like it was to much hassle to help us asked where we were going and got told use your eyes. Course was in terrible condition greens haven’t be swept worm casts everywhere/brown patches fairways were long the only good parts were some of the tees excluding the 4th which hadn’t been moved in days by the looks of it. Will not be returning until someone sorts that place out.

Good challenging course, shame the greens were very poor. Recently hollow tined and not recovered very well. Also a problem with groups not allowing players through, so extremely slow play in places. However overall a good experience.
