What the club says: Telford Golf and Country Club's picturesque 6,741 yard, par 72 championship golf course is set in 170 acres of Shropshire countryside, within the boundary of the World Heritage site that is the Ironbridge Gorge. Opened for play in 1976 the attractive parkland course features strategically placed water hazards and tree-lined fairways. The undulating greens are laid on a suspended water table system, the same as Augusta, home of the US Masters. The Club has had £14 million invested in its facility and now boasts a 4 star hotel.

Golf Course Reviews for Telford Hotel & Golf Resort
This was a good course with some interesting and difficult holes. However, the round was tarnished a little by the mounds of leaves on the fairways and greens. This was not "overnight" leaf fall but a culmination of several days judging by the condition of the leaves. Groundstaff were out on the course but none were tending to the leaves. Club was ok but expensive - ?4.25 a pint??
Booked this course through Teetimes website for an amazing £10 for the round. On arrival the car park was very busy and I struggled to find a parking slot. The Pro shop was very welcoming and well stocked. My tee time was behind a 3 ball in buggies, who I thought would zoom ahead but were happy to let us through.
The course was surprisingly wet (I am used to a sand drained course), and I was surprised that there was no local clean and place rule in operation as I had mud balls on most holes. For a wet course, the greens were in excellent condition and the fastest I have ever played on, they were a credit to the greenkeeping staff.
The signature 8th hole was a joy to play, but I was impressed with the par 3 holes on the back 9, both were beautifully framed and fun to play.
Having stayed at a couple of QHotel complexes, we anticipated a meal at the end of the round, but the restaurant was closed until 6.30, some 90 minutes after we completed our round.
Overall, a great experience and one to repeat, hopefully the score will be better!
