MrTerrible in the winter
Comfy hotel, nice golf courseWe visited on a Saturday after a good downpour so the fairways, paths and rough were often muddy or even boggy. It rained even more that night so had no choice but to abandon our booked Sunday round. We would like to return in spring/summer as the course was well laid out and picturesque. The hotel was comfy, staff very friendly and attentive and the food was good. Standard hotel prices for drinks, just under 10 quid for two alcoholic drinks.
Great value midweekPlayed here for the first time as a one ball just for a bit of practice midweek due to a day off and I was suitably impressed.
Bunkers are well sanded, fairways well maintained and greens very fast and true. Little traffic on the course (didn?t catch anyone and never anyone behind) albeit i?ve read that it can be quite the opposite at weekends.
It?s a long course but doesn?t necessarily play into the hands of the big hitters as doglegs, fairway bunkers and tight angles mean accuracy is often key.
Club shop was ok but changing facilities a little small, didn?t use the bar etc to be able to comment on refreshments. Would definitely make a return visit at the price I paid (?10!).

Was still very wet and softIt was still very wet on the day thati played it, some of the greens were a bit mossy but played ok, there was no run on the fairways and a couple of balls pluged. The bunkers were a bit thin in places and a little bit stoney but the ground staff were busy trying to improve things, thing it would be a pleasant coursre to play when a bit dryer

Nice course spoiled by leavesThis was a good course with some interesting and difficult holes. However, the round was tarnished a little by the mounds of leaves on the fairways and greens. This was not "overnight" leaf fall but a culmination of several days judging by the condition of the leaves. Groundstaff were out on the course but none were tending to the leaves. Club was ok but expensive - ?4.25 a pint??
