Evening Golf

Teed off at Sutton Coldfield Golf Club on a Tuesday evening after an hour of rain — perfect timing as it softened the greens, which had recently been sanded. The fairways were a little bare in places after weeks of warm weather, but the course still played beautifully, exactly as a parkland course should. The greens weren’t quite as fast as usual due to the sanding, but still rolled well. Unusually, we came across several cows wandering by the fairways, which added a quirky twist to the round! The course was quiet, almost like millionaire’s golf, and we got round in a prompt 3 hours 30. All in all, a very enjoyable evening of golf.

Got to keep it on the fairway, once in the Heather it can be difficult to either find the ball or to get it out cleanly. So a charming course but not for the light hearted.

Excellent course

I received a voucher as a present which gave me chance to play the course. Firm fairways and greens mean you get the benefit of extra run on the course but make sure you get some green practice before you go out - they are quick!!

Round with Friends

My experience at the Sutton Coldfield Golf Club was great. The course was in good condition, fairways were manicured nicely, and the greens were consistent and rolled true. The sand traps were perfectly raked and a pleasure to play from. The dryness didn't affect playability as the greens still held the ball nicely. Of course, the bar facilities were above par with a generous selection of beverages at reasonable prices. All in all, a great experience and a course I would highly recommend to others.

Bit of a late review from November, nice round, heard much about it from social media, not for me I'm afraid. Greens nice enough for the time of year, not keen on the new bunkers i seen but its all personal preference I guess.

Simply Stunning

Have recently joined here and it is an absolute golfing paradise. The greens are the best I've played and the fairways are superb. Set amongst the natural beauty of Sutton Park the views are breathtaking and there is a real sense of peace and calm out on the course.

Not to be recommended

Heathland course, in pretty good condition considering the recent weather. Greens were very good, and the fairways wet in places but still very playable.
The problem was that when we finished our round, and wanted to go into the clubhouse for refreshment, we were not allowed to, being told that a couple of members of our party were not dressed appropriately. One was wearing shorts, and the other wearing smart trousers, although not a Golf ?brand?. This was not mentioned in any way when we were paying our green fees in the shop. The club was perfectly happy to take our ?275.00 for the 5 of us to use the course, but then presented us with a very rude and ignorant attitude afterwards. This club needs to get itself in to the 21st century, and change their arrogant, elitist approach to non-members. I will never recommend this club to anybody.

Fast Greens

i have played here in two open events recently and it is a superb course in fantastic condition with probably the fastest fairways of any inland course I have played. Greens are excellent but very fast and difficult. if you get the wrong side of the hole you will have problems.

This course will let you know how good a golfer you are. Highly recommended

Well Designed heathland Challenge

Some good driving opportunities with wide open vistas and shorter holes cut into ancient woodland, there's a lot of variety here. Three consecutive par 5's is unusual, but they all run in different directions so you'll have one with a following wind! Chance to score well if you keep straight, but a good short game is needed as the fast greens are the defence on this course.... I thoroughly enjoyed it!

£40 for the winter series

I'm a fan of Sutton, but I'm not sure it's worth £40 through the winter months. the layout is tough if you're offline your in trouble, greens are excellent as are the fairways. white tee's are shabby tho and not in great condition.

excellent welcome by this years captain handing out the bacon sarnies on arrival, fantastic touch. trackman on the first tee :-) and trick shot by http://www.theaspirationgroup.co.uk on the 9th

A good day, but it's winter so I feel £30 is about right, but it's Sutton Coldfield not Brampton

Practice area is near 12th tee about 1/2 a mile away, but they have 2 nets at the club for quick warm up.

We are members of a nearby course an decided to try out Sutton Coldfield due to our court being more akin to a bog.

What a treat it was, course was in great condition for time of year (forget time of year actually, course was just in great nick full stop). The pro was very friendly and all members made us very welcome. We will most certainly be back!

Well what can I say, we went searching for a course that stands up to all the rain we have had lately and what a gem we found in Sutton Coldfield golf club. The course was bone dry after heavy rainfall the night before it really is a true heathland course. There was a stiff 20mph wind which made it a good test of golf. Some lovely holes and greens were in very condition. Very reasonably priced for a weekend. Thanks Sutton we'll be back!!!
