Lovely Location

One Night stay and 2 rounds of golf. Hotel stay, restaurant and bar excellent.
Golf on constable course was an enjoyable challenge, tee boxes and greens in great shape.
Played Gainsborough, first nine holes pace of play slow and disappointing to play off mats which reduced the quality feel yardage distance from a lovely course, greens were in lovely condition. Pace of play 5 hours.
Overall a fine stay. Will book again next year but earlier in the season.

Excellent

We played both courses over a 1 night stay, both courses in excellent condition, our group much preferred the Constable, greens, fairways & tee boxes all great. Gainsborough on some holes tee boxes wasn't as good as Constable & there was a fair walk between some holes. Friendly staff & other golfing groups, food was wonderful especially 3 course dinner & all at a reasonable price, we're returning in May 26, think that says it all

Mid week break

This was the second visit for our golf society. As before the course was in excellent condition. The hotel is very nice and all of the staff are welcoming polite and very helpful.

Good challenge, poor pace and loud beta males.

In August 25, played the Gainsborough course. It is a decent challenge, reasonably well laid out (watch for poor signage after 12th as could miss 13/14).

Quite scruffy between some holes and the white tee on 11 was impossible off deck as no grass and just compacted mud.

Pace of play was poor, we had some holes with 5 groups stacked on them: Player etiquette is non-existent, you wont get waived through and will likely have to dodge balls sprayed from other fairways with no warning or shouts of “Fore”.

It was also quite loud in places with tannoys from camping and parties destroying the ambience on the back 9. Around the clubhouse it did not seem friendly as large groups of intoxicated beta males shouting, whooping anr turning the air blue swearing. Certainly did not seem ideal for family's, couples or women.

Felt more like the halftime bar areas of a football match than a golf course, shame as setting and patio area looks nice.

I am sure it is well suited to groups of society players on a jolly who are more interested in getting to the 19th and drinking than playing golf to any standard of behaviour or ability!

Not the ?championship? experience it claims to be.

Played the Gainsborough Saturday and Constable Sunday over the bank holiday.

Positives - greens were superb and very well looked after

Negatives - tee times too close together (8mins per 4ball), multiple societies with no on course Marshalls speeding up play resulted in near 5 hr rounds. There are areas of the course requiring some serious TLC such as the bare areas around greens, path tracks and areas between holes. We stayed in the lodges and the potholes are 4? deep

Nice enough course but ?60 green feet is excessive

Played both courses via society stay over 2 days. Both in good condition as per usual and each course presents a different test. Well looked after by the venue as per previous visits. Dinner was especially good. Will be back in due course.
